The N64 games, I know that Bomberman is fairly cartooney, but for some reason Bomberman 64 and it's sequel have a fair amount of depth in them. It seems that a lot of more cartooney game series gained more maturity and depth in the N64 era. I have loads of theories about the four conquered planets that appear in Bomberman 64, which ones Altair captured first, how he stole the Omni cube from Sirus, and where the Omnicube came from. etc.

Bomberman is pretty much dead nowadays though. I don't think that they make any more adventure games. :/
