Does it annoy you when people say 'Call of Duty is better than Mario because it has better graphics' or when someone else says 'Flappy Bird is better than the Legend of Zelda'? I have no problem with the casual gaming market because most people who play on the casual gaming market are casual gamers and some casual gamers don't buy console games.

But when I hear that Call of Duty is better than Mario because of the Graphics...it makes me wonder. Do gamers today only look towards graphics? Because I'm sure that most people will agree with me that CoD does get a little repetitive both story wise and gameplay wise, while Mario updates it(every now and then). Don't get me wrong-I play CoD, and I also play Mario, but it ticks me off a little that a naive 9 year old says that CoD is better than Mario purely because of Graphics.

What's your opinion on this?

Okay here is my opinion. Before I state it I want to make a disclaimer. By all means am I not making fun of today's gamers and I do not mean to be offensive. I sometimes think new gamers do not appreciate the classics. I have heard so many times that Call of Duty or Halo are better than Mega Man or Mario. In my honest opinion, Mega Man and Mario set the bar as to what great games should be. When talking to my friends ,especially ones born after 1995, I try to introduce the classics to them. I think today's gamers should be introduced to the classics. I was born in the 1980's. Back in the 1980's we had the Atari system and then the Nintendo came out. I remember playing Mega Man and Mario for hours. The Super Nintendo would come out in 1990/1991 and I had fun playing that. So if it was not for those systems than there would not be any new systems that today's gamers enjoy so much. Good thing there is an awesome site like this so players can get introduced to the classics.

CoD is indeed better than Mario, but this is not my opinion. My opinion is that I like Mario and CoD is not as good as the 2nd and 4th was. I'm an ultraliberalist, so I don't care what they do unless they annoy me with it.
Think different. Why you like Mario? Why they like CoD? It's becuse they grew up with it. It is the way of thinking. Like I'm an pessimistic person so I like destroying stuff, but if I was a perfectionist I would make the best I can and build the best buildings or vehicles or weapons. A materialist will kill everybody to get as many loot as he can and an optimist is like: VIDEO GAMES ARE COOL! Of course all this happens in games, but don't force them to play Mario, and if they play for graphics let them be, they are young.

If I can get a good experience and a bit of fun out of a game, whether it be a 16-bit or something modern- I'll enjoy that game forever. I'm in it for immersive worlds and whatnot, and I play Mario, The Legend of Zelda, AND Call of Duty. So, point is that although I respect the classics, everyone has opinions.
