My personal top five favorite generations are: 6, 4, 3, 1, 2, these are my personal opinions, what are yours?

In what order is that? Is gen 6 your favorite or least favorite? . For me, keep in mind I haven't played Gen 6 yet.

1.3 (Fire Red). The only Pokemon game I replay yearly, just does so much great.
2.2 (Crystal). I use to play this a lot and thought it was the best but I'm noticing flaws in it.
3.5 (Black). I only beat it once, I liked it, but the story was annoying and over-hyped.
4.1 (Red). I only beat it once, but its too dated and I can't find much enjoyment in it.
5.4 (Platnium). I never beat it, it just bores me to tears.

DARKANINE : Sorry for the confusion, I meant generation 6 is my favorite, awesome list by the way, if I am talking about the games individually mine is pretty close to this.

From favourite to least:
1. Gen 3 (Sapphire)
Loved it! My favourite!
2. Gen 4 (Pearl)
Spent a lot of time on this one.
Running around Sinnoh. Trying to catch them all, only to find out that I can't....
3. Gen 6 (X)
 Haven't spent too much time on this one.
Mainly Shiny hunting after beating the champion.
4. Gen 5 (Black)
Haven't played much at all, as I only got it recently.
Too early to say if I like it yet.
5. Gen 1 (Blue)
The games which started it all.
I just didn't find the game exciting at all.
Luckily Game Freak learnt from their mistakes.
6. Gen 2 (Crystal)
I may as well throw this one on the list.
I never got past the second gym, spending very little time playing it.
This might change once I get round to actually having a shot though.

From worst to best, my rankings are...

6) Generation 6. I'll admit this ranking is complete bull because I've never played the game. It'll likely be higher once I get around to playing my copy of Pokemon X.

5) Generation 5. At this point I think I should mention that these rankings are based solely on my experience and enjoyment playing the game. It has nothing to do with graphics, and while Gen 5 was a huge step forwards in Pokemon emersion, the story line just didn't hold up as well as some of the previous games.

4) Generation 3. It feels a little weird putting Hoenn so low on the list. Pokemon Ruby was my very first pokemon game, and I still have that old cartridge, and I'll even pop it in every once in a great while, but for me it just couldn't reach my top 3 gen list.

3) Generation 1. Kanto was great to play. It basically started everything, and I have it to thank for my current addiction

2) Generation 4. I really loved SInnoh. Mainly because of the huge step up in graphics (even though I said they didn't count) and emersion. The story line of Sinnoh that, when followed appropriately, lead you to fighting the god of all pokemon was just amazing.

1) Generation 2. Yup. Johto. I literally have almost nothing to back this up. Pokemon Silver was just one of those games that really appealed to me. Whether it be because of the dynamic rivalry between you and...well... your rival, or just because Lugia is the greatest Pokemanz ever.

My favorite generations(Worst to best) are as follows:
Gen 4 - I think that this generation kind of ruined it for me. Many would disagree, but ousting Mewtwo and replacing it with Arceus as the ruler seemed pretty betraying to the series roots.

Gen 1 - This generation used to be my favorite. But then I realized how small this region really is compared to others. And when you beat all of the trainers in Kanto, there isn't much to do.

Gen 2 - I love the design of Johto. I love the storyline in Johto. I also love the new Pokemon this region introduces. It seemed like a fresh region compared to Kanto.

Gen 3: I really, REALLY love this region. The music is perfect, the graphics are perfect, and the stunning scenery in Hoenn, from a volcano to the underwater depths, gives it a mystical feel and it feels like a real world.

2. Gold. Great game, loved playing in 2 regions. Let's not forget Lugia and the Red Gyrados.
3. Emerald. Loved the region and Rayquaza.
5. Black 2. I loved all of the new features for this game and I liked a couple of the new Pokemon that were introduced.
6. X. What's not to love? Mega Evolutions, all new graphics, and all sorts of brand new features.
4. Diamond. Didn't play this region much but I loved Dialga and the Underground area.
1. Red. I did not play this game much, but there's still plenty of nostalgia.... and Mewtwo.

zanderlex : DUDE! I see you are a persona fan, awesome me too, I think persona 4 is my favorite game of all time, well it is tied with another game, but awesome list, all you guys have unique awesome lists, and thank you to all of you for taking the time to reply.

I can say my favorite is easily Gold. It was my first pokemon game and I'll always remember it as the best. I even remember the first time I beat it I almost cried when I saw the credits go to the menu, I thought that meant all my pokemon was gone. 

Blue- first game I had and is part of my favorite Generation
Fire Red- Remake the Classics love it so much only reason Generation 3 beats out Generation 2
Gold- this Generation Introduced my favorite electric type

okay my favorites in order 

1) Pokemon Blue so gen 1 because it was my first game and it was so fun to play while watching the anime as well. 

2) Pokemon Sapphire gen 3 it has some of my favorite pokemon like Mudkip igglybuff and others and i think it had the most fun adventure.

3) Pokemon Soul Silver gen 2 it was really fun to see your pokemon reacting and talking to you like in yellow but this time you can do any pokemon not just your starter and it fun to explore two great regions.

4) Pokemon Y it had one of the best stories i seen and had it's just like normal life with your new friends you made when you just moved and stuff. but not so great on their new pokemon had some poor and lazy designs and names i dont really have a fifth
