No matter what I do it always freezes when I try to save in nes cafe(the only emulator that works for me @ vizzed). I right click the screen then click the emulator tab,and the menu freezes(except for that damn mushroom that does laps around the the menu box)then I have to restart my computer for nes cafe to work again.I've tried different browsers to no avail. I'm using the imac white flat screen with os x 10.3.9 panther and the 800 mhz power pc g4 processor with the nvidia geforce2mx agp(accelerated graphics port) x2(is that video/graphics card? and what is x2 ?).I have 256mb sdram and 32mb vram(what is sd and v?)
Java info:
java applet launch 2.3.0
Input method hotkey 2.3.0
java 1.4.2 plugin settings 2.1.0 (for jdk 1.4.2)
java 1.3.1 plug in settings 1.0.0
java webstart 1.4.2
Can anybody tell me what these(java) mean and do and why they have two different versions, what and how can I upgrade the java or get my computer running efficiently? I tried going to the java web sight for an upgrade but it just said to check my computer for software updates.Maybe mac does not offer upgrades of java, maybe they just come with each new version of os x ?Also does anyone know if you can skip versions of os x or do you have to upgrade consecutively?. It seems I meet the requirements for 10.4 tiger, but should I get that (I would be able to upgrade browser firefox from 2.0 to 3.5.2 and maybe get better java) or should I get 10.5 leopard which would require upgrading my processor from 800mhz to a minimum of 867 mhz? Keep in mind I'm dirt poor.I am fairly inexperienced at all this, especially with a mac, so any advice would be very much appreciated.I guess for now I'll just have to play shadowgate in one sitting(wonder how long that will take),that was the game that lead me to this sight and started me on this quest of learning about this imac and how to upgrade it. I hope I come up with a way to make it work better thats cheap. My dad will be so impressed. He is usually on it 24/7 but he's gone every other week.I wonder if I should fix it up and surprise him. It's really fun learning about computers. Since my accident I cant weld anymore,or do anything physical very well anymore. so I really want to get into computers.Well thanks for reading and hopefully replying............peace

Your mac is really outdated same with mine. I run a OS X 1.9 GHz Power PC G5 and it's also unplayable for me. Firefox 3 doesn't help at all, in fact FF3 on old Macs always crashes on flash stuff. Java support for PowerPC's is dead just like all other support. We are on a discontinued processor here and last time I checked we need one of the newer macs in order to update to newest version of java.

You can try to fix it but I have no clue how. I'm a noob when it comes to computer insides all I know is FF3 + low java support + discontinued PowerPC processor = laggy/glitchy/ or even unplayable.

Well... Since it seems a Mac specific problem you could try running a virtual operating system with VMWare and that might solve the problems.
It's extra work and you will need a copy of windows (xp probally) but it might do the trick.

That won't work DH... He needs an intel processor to run VMWare Fusion, there might be a parallel for older macs but from what I've read VMWare is the best one out there but you need the upgraded processor
