when i think about when i was a kid playing pokemon MissingNo. was my favourite part of pokemon. if you look up missingNo. on wikipeadia you can actualy fund out some fun facts

*players attempted to sell "tips" on capturing MissingNo. for up to $200
*Nintendo warned people not to try the glitch and removed it in Pokémon Yellow.But despite the warnings people did it anyways.IGN stated in a related article, "It really says something about Pokémon fans that they took what is a potentially game ruining glitch and used it as a shortcut to level up their Pokémon."

I, like tons of other people, tried to find MissingNo. When I finally found it, it destroyed my entire file. I never tried any weird glitches on that game again.

Yes... interesting... But nothing to really discuss just listing random facts.
Honestly, Misingno is a glitch that ruins games which came about because GameFreak didnt put the left over code in the right place.
It still exists in Pokemon Yellow (and for that matter most of the Pokemon games have a glitch or two) its just not in the same place.
And yeah it says something about Pokemon fans that they would use that glitch to make infinite rare candys and such to level quick.
It says that those people were casuals or lazy. Not really a good thing to be with a long RPG style game.

I'll leave this open for now to discuss, but next time you make a thread you should give it a purpose rather then just stating random facts only.

yeah i remember also catching lvl 150 to 170 golbats and such and like i remeber being told you can catch mew in red and blue versions look on youtube

I caught one once. And oh how I was lucky. My game didnt die! Then it evolved after the first battle even though it had no attacks. It evolved into MEW! Isnt that cool?

Yeah the best thing to use the missingno cheat on is master balls, rare candies, pp ups, znd tms.

Having unlimited masterballs, rare candies, PP ups and the like would be nice but woul ruin the challenge of the games. If you use 250,000,000 rare canies on your metapod it would beat the elite 4 and lance easily, I must admit it would be hilarious but wouldnt really be beating the elite four...

I've used the glitch but I never copied that many. I just did a few rare candies & ultra balls.

i have a bizarre story abot missingo. my brother accidentaly caught it, and his file was still intact, and his game was perfectly fine. then, i was messing around, and magically missingo turned into a rhydon. it had no evolve screen, but when i looked at the party, there was a rhydon instead of a missingo. the rhydon could not be released, and it knew extremely bizarre moves for a rhydon, it knew sky attack, and water gun filled up two move slots. it gets even weirder. it said it was like level 60 or something like that, but only had a defense of about 2. now the game won't turn on. how did this happen????

MissingNo., that brings back memories. i remember figuring out the MissingNo. cheat for the first time, and i got a lot of maserballs. one day when i was playing pokemon red, i accendatlty caught MissingNo. and nothing happened to my game. I was going to release it, but my brother was messing around with it, and before i relased it, my brother turned it into a rhydon!!!!!!! No evo. screne. it also went from level 100 to 60!!! and it's defense, 231 to 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what the heck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then i couldn't release my MissingNo./Rhydon. later my game never turned on again. that darn rhydon i was stuck with knew two water guns and a sky attack. it also went from 200 attack to 923 attack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


P.S. after a while of being mad at Red, it finally started working(yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

What do you mean there's no such thing as Missing No.? Have you even tried? There's proof everywhere. I've actually seen one (not on my game, I only had Yellow...)!

to do the cheat, you gotta talk to the guy in viridian city that teaches you how to catch pokemon. say yes, and he will catch some lame pokemon.

immediately fly to cinnabar island, set whatever item you want to duplicate on the 6th slot down in your inventory, and then surf up and down the east coast of the island. do NOT leave the coast, or it wont work. just keep surfing till you run into a MissingNo. you'll know its going to be MN when the screen goes blank longer than usual.

kill the MN, and whatever item you set to the 6th slot down will be duplicated. probably get around 200 of that item. do NOT catch the MN, and do NOT catch any pokemon you find on that coast that is high level (you should know what is high, compared to the other pokemon you find around there). you will mess your game up. this only works on blue/red versions.

Actually if you see MissingNo it glitches your game in one way or another no matter what you do.
It's also the fact that the 6th item is multiplied that is also why the game messes up, because it gives you a number of said item that is outside the maximum normal game range of 99 per slot.

ive done this countless times, and its never messed any of my games up. only time my game crashed was when my bro caught something on that beach. ive never had any other problems.

I remember when I did this with my Pokemon Red game.I put the master ball in the 6th slot did all did everything you had to do to find MN and I didn't really notice any glitches except when I check my Hall of Fame record.I beat Gary with Blastoise,Moltres,Zapdos,Articuno,Wigglytuff, and Clefable,but instead it showed 3 Pidgeots,1 Rhydon,1 Dugtrio, and a big pixel scribble thing all over this 6th slot.Then,I went back to the coast(like the stupid little mindless boy I was and caught every high level pokemon I found.Then,when I remembered about Mewtwo I captured him and his level was 312 and I was like "what?" and I reset the game and it never turned on again.Boo hoo that old game was my first friendly friend!

The thing that messes up first that you might not have noticed (most people don't) is that the hall of fame is glitched and contains Pokemon you never used in the elite four.
It doesn't crash the game, just messes up bits of the save file.

i never saw anything wrong with the HoF... maybe i just didnt look enough lol.

I've done the Missingno trick before and it was kind of strange seeing that. I've also done the Mew glitch too and it was cool. Missingno and its glichy appearance...

There's entire boards dedicated to finding glitches like missingno., it's quite amazing. Like all poor kids who didn't even know what GameShark and ActionReplay meant, all I could rely on were things like these... XD

I did multiply rare candies to help me fill my dex back then. Good times.
