I agree they should not be selling them in the first place. But personally, I don’t think such stores really care about what they sell, I personally believe that there were a few lawsuits and they were forced to stop the sale.

FrankThePunisherCastle : Well i don't really know actually. I mean it sucks that you have to smoke for cancer but It's also good because maybe the person with cancer can live longer with it.

imamonster : No offense meant, but is this post trolling?

Cigarettes get the term "cancer stick" because smoking gives a much higher chance of getting lung cancer. In no way does smoking cigarettes prolong the life of someone with lung cancer.

I don't think there is anything wrong with CVS's decision, personally. I mean, as everyone else said, cigarettes can pretty much be bought anywhere. Taking one store out of that loop can't stop anyone from getting their fix.  This makes CVS's move a personal one, and I'm impressed with them doing something based off their convictions and not off the money or other reasons.

Singelli : I agree, and I don't think they'll lose a whole lot of business just because they stop carrying one class of merchandise. They sell many other things. What seems to make or break a retailer these days is their online presence, but that's an argument for another thread.

I applaud the decision, personally. It doesn't make any sense when a store that sells wellness products also sells deadly cancer-causing things that have zero benefits other than a quick fix for someone who is hooked. I grew up around smokers and I've watched them suffer with health problems and even death as a result of cigarettes. While I'm of the belief that you should be able to whatever you choose to your body, I think it should be a little bit harder to find cigarettes in this day and age. It's not the 1920s anymore, and smoking tobacco is no longer associated with being a gentleman. It should still be legal and accessible, but not available at every grocery store and gas station in America.
