My name is Poppy. I am a 13 year old girl who loves adventure. My best friend Manny is coddled, but his bright attitude always shines through. We created this website, called the Weekly Mew. We're always looking after it. Nothing could go wrong. Our lives, well, were pretty much perfect. Until one day we got a strange message...
"Poppy! Wake up Poppy, it's time for breakfast." Poppy's Mom calls from the kitchen. "Eugh..." Poppy stagers up from her bed. Frustrated. Today's her birthday. She hates birthdays. Just another year closer to my death. Putting on her favorite hoodie, a plain white one with a smily face across it, she walks down the stairs and into the kitchen. "good morning sweetie, did you sleep alright?" Poppy gives her mom an nod and then sits down. She's not much of a morning person, but her mom sure is."mom...it's 7 am. Why did you wake me up?" "because it's your birthday dear! You want to have a party, don't you?" "mom, I hate parties." Poppy makes a disgusted face. She hated parties. So loud and boring. All the parties she's been to and she's never had anything to do. "Oh Poppy, I'm just teasing. We won't have a party. We'll be visiting your Dad today." Poppy lit up. She loved her dad. Her dad was always at work, so seeing him was a luxury. He was always very kind to everyone he met. But he spent most of his days working hard to sustain our family. Poppy always thought he works to much, because they had a house and food and they had money to burn. A knock. Another. Poppy remembers this knock. This is the knock of her buddy.
"I think Manny is here, Poppy. Why don't you go and let him in?" Poppy hears her mom say. She was already walking towards the door. "can't forget that obnoxious knock..." Poppy mutters. As soon as she opens the door, it busts open and Manny runs inside. "HI POPPY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" he yells. "Manny, inside voices..." "oh, um, sorry madam. " Manny looks down in shame. "Manny, maybe you should come to my room?" "okay." the two friends walk up the stairs into Poppy's room. "so why'd you come over?" Poppy says as she sits down near her desktop. "I dunno..for the lols." "well okay...let's check the website. See how it's been doing." Poppy spins her swivel chair and turns on her browser, typing in the website's name. One message in her inbox. "From...Anonymous. I thought I made it impossible to be Anonymous.." "well, what does it say Poppy?"
"It says...dear Poppy. We have been watching you for quite some time now. You may not know it now, but you have an incredible power. And unfortunately for you, we want it to ourselves. We're coming for you, Poppy."
