well first you need to use a dark character to make the chao "evil" then while leveling it up, make sure to get its speed stat higher than all the other stats (but not too high, trust me) once it evolves it will have shadow-ish spikes but with green lines instead of red, to get them red, continue giving it as many speed chaos drives as you want (if you give it too many before it evolves, you won't be able to change the stripes because you'll hit the max speed, it happened when I tried making a saphire Sonic chao, so i created the first metal sonic chao with it!)
