It seems impossible to me . Every color we know or can think of is already named . But I hear the Mantis Shrimp has 16 color receptive rods to our 3 so maybe they can see more colors than us .. if my logic is correct.

See, for our different shades of red, a mantis shrimp may see hundreds of different colors. So color is in the eye of the beholder. We can't invent a new color because all the colors already do exist, we just don't have the ability to fathom them. Discovery of a new color would probably take optical technology that we have not yet invented. So in the future, it may be possible for humans to discover a new color.

I think that many colors can be invited in the future.. they have so many out there and so many new people coming in the world with wild and crazy imagination. I think that even I could make a new color up if I tried hard enough. Anything is possible and I guess we just have to wait until the future to see how things work out!

I believe the closest we can get to inventing a new color, is naming an already existent color, that we had not seen before. Other than that, you can’t just make a brand new one.

I don't think so. I tried when I was younger, it didn't work. Maybe one day if someone (Preferably a scientist) remakes an eye of a Mantis Shrimp, and somehow lets a human eye see with it, we can. Because they can see nine more colors than we can.

We cannot invent a new color.  All colors have do to with the wavelength of light they emit and using computers you can create any color by changing the wavelength of the light they emit.  Now there is a thing called the visible spectrum of light and those are the colors we can see.  With animals such as the Mantis Shrimp they can see colors that are not within our visible spectrum but the colors already exists.  It is possible that our eyes could evolve or using gene therapy be evolved to see colors that are now within our light spectrum and then humans could see new colors they haven't seen before but they are already mapped out.

Nice question though. I do not think that it is possible to invent a new color. Like blue and purple is violet or whatever you call it. In the future, it may be possible if they had the right materials to make and observe the color. But I am not sure about that yet.
