I don't .. I think it is money for chores right ? Well I don't do much chores at my Mom's ... But I do A LOT at my Dad's .. on Saturdays you sweep and mop the ENTIRE house .. upstairs and downstairs and wash clothes and dishes ... dishes are washed during the entire week . Do we get payed ? Nope . Not at all . How bout you ?

It's quite impossible for me to live without receiving allowance as a college student, considering I have to pay monthly for the place where I stay and also the water and electricity bills, and groceries. Aside from that I also have a budget for school supplies, not the ordinary supplies like pencils and pens, but stuff like computer spare parts, resistors, chips, tool kits... etc. I won't simply be able to afford everything just by having an undergrad part time job... I can't also afford to lose time for both rest and studies in exchange of a part time job. Thanks my beloved sponsors! (Mom and dad)

I must be old, because my "allowance" is my paycheck I get. And that goes to bills and family expenses. 
But, when I was younger, I still worked. So no, an allowance was never a thing because I had to work for money. 
In the end, I appreciated it because it was my money and not my parents' money.

Instead of worrying about allowance, go find a job.  Try dog walking, running chores for strangers, shoveling snow, or something like that to generate money.  Allowance is what you get for going out of your way to work hard for your family.

I got allowance as a kid but I tried to find things to do to help.  I mowed the lawn, I did dishes, I vacuumed, I cleaned, I helped fold laundry.  I learned life skills and was rewarded because I had initiative.

Try that.  Good lucK!
