I was musing about how vines always climb up (English ivy, anyone?), and this reminded me, somehow, of people's power struggles. Hence, this little short piece that I don't really like but am sharing anyway. And I promise the next poem will be happier and less bleak.

The Vine

Leaves from the vine,
Drifting below,
To fall on the ground,
Resting on the snow.

Flowers bloom and go,
Color once bright.
Now the vine is bare,
Struck by power’s blight.

Creeping onward, up,
Reaching for the sky,
The vine climbs its way,
Though its ladder is a lie.

Tall as they can be,
Reaching forever skyward,
Why do the people moan,
Always wanting higher?

Rotten remnants fall on the ground,
Tainting the snow.

Dragonlord Stephi : I don't mind the bleakness ... maybe cuz I am blakea right now and thriving on it but hey .. Nice poem . Really captures the notion of wanting to go higher but falling .. doomed to failer damned to unfulfilment . Brilliant ( Evidently .. not the best speller .. ok ? Sorry )
