All the new music coming out nowadays is pop, rap, country, and alternative.  There doesn't seem to be any more plain ol' guitar rock and roll.

Is it dead or will we see more in the future?

True. Much of the new music is Pop, Rap etc., mainly because it just sells better, since these are the best-known genres of the newer generations and it's everywhere in commercials. Rock and Roll still exists, although it may not be as popular as other music. But as long as there are people who like Rock and also producers who dont only care for making good sales for not much effort, I don't think it will "die" in future. Everyone should just listen to what he/she likes.

Who knows? Maybe in a few years it'll be very popular again. I actually doubt that, but it's possible.
