I occasionally say I do things I haven't done yet to stop people from bothering me about them.  I also sometimes lie about how far I walk the dog.  She gets enough exercise as it is and I want to look better.

This is an interesting topic. So you are talking about little white lies that you don't have any real reason to lie about . I would have to say I tend to lie if my wife cooks something that wasn't as good as when she normally makes it. In that case, I know I like it when she makes it. But what is the point in telling her it wasn't as good this time? it will likely be better next time, it won't change how she makes it, so all it accomplishes is making her not feel as good about making something I like. So I will lie

I lie about how much I do in a day to people. Really, they want me to do something with them, not always work, that I just don't feel like doing. I'd rather go be an introvert for just a little bit. However, people have been offended when I say, "Nah, I kinda want to go debate on some forum" they think that I think the forum or my computer is more important than them. Totally not the case, I just want time by myself. They don't understand. So, rather than deal with the fallout of "You don't like me and don't want to hang out with me and all you do is play on your computer and I hate you and I no longer invite you to do anything nor will do things you invite me to do", I just tell them I have homework that needs to be completed, a paper that needs writing, something. I really do have those things, but I may flub that I don't have them completed or that I don't actually plan on completing them that night or whatever.

I lie about things but not serious stuff. I might tell my friends I did a lot of /a little writing for homework but I tell them I'm joking shortly afterwards. I don't like lying, I use what I call secondary excuses or I don't say anything. Much more better.

Well when my niece goes off with my parents but asks why I don't come I usually just say we don't have enough room or money to take me along or that we need a house sitter.  Really I want my time off of taking care of people but it is half true that we usually don't have the money for me to tag along.

I have no idea if it's a good lie or bad, but it has no false results everyone usually has a great vacation.

I lie about tons of stuff.

There's a woman at work that is CONSTANTLY droning on about what her kid did yesterday, or what her dog did, and I usually say something like "that's funny"(it's never funny), or "that's interesting"(it's never interesting). While hoping she'll fall through a trap door or something and go away.

Much like Txgangsta, i lie about what I'm doing all the time "Yeah, sorry I couldn't make it to your party Brian, I was backed up with papers for work", the reality being that I was binge watching breaking bad episodes.

Of course every time someone gives a bad performance I say "great performance", or someone has a ridiculously stupid tattoo I say "great tattoo"

The average person lies about 8 times per day, and it's a good thing. Lies are the foundations of maintaining relationships, you won't maintain a relationship very long if you point out how fat they are, or how stupid you think they are... It's a courtesy.

I used to lie a lot about stuff but as I got older I learned that it is wrong and I shouldn't be doing that. I think most everybody uses white lies though.. to get out of something or to get somebody off your back. I sometimes do this but not a lot of times. Lying is a big deal and if I do it.. it's just one of those things to get somebody off my back or to get a couple of more days on something. I always have real reasons and I try to lie as little as possible but I don't think anybody can say they haven't lied about something.

Apart form white lies I tend to lie about my grades. That's when I tell my parents about them. I do tend to lie about how I feel or think of something improtant so that things don't get annoying.

I don't really lie about serious stuff and I try not to lie too much. Sometimes people would say something and I may say it's interesting, even if I wasn't interested at all. Also, I go and tell people I am perfectly fine just so they won't know I really don't feel too great.
