I agree that you should not take candy from strangers, but not necessarily for the same reasons. My family had always been nervous of kidnappings and such which is why they taught this to me at such a young age.

"Never go with a stranger, especially if they want to give you candy or show you puppies since they are mostly likely going to rape you. So never take anything or go with anyone and if somebody tries, you have to tell us immediately!"

Well nobody ever did but I understood this also applied when some creepy guys wanted to hold your hand so I was fine.
