What makes you feel older?

For me, I know the sound of dial-up internet and the sound of a rotary phone being dialed.

What makes me feel older than I am is coming on Vizzed, and seeing the average member age be so far below my own age.

Every year, I get further and further away.

Something about pre-teens make me feel older and older.

What makes me feel old is playing the Sega Genesis. Honestly, some people think the Super Nintendo is nostalgic, but honestly Sega gives me all the nostalgia. Video game music gives me the most nostalgia. When I think to myself, it's mostly video game music. I'm only 16 and I still feel old when I'm playing something like Super Mario 64. (The box arts give me more nostalgia than the game itself) And 16 years is a long time, so I'd obviously feel old anyways.

My arthritis..... Seriously, I walk 2 miles a day to school and sometimes it can get annoying, but if I dont think about it, I am fine.

Seeing some of my old cartoons that I watched when I was little, then seeing they aired 10+ years ago, then I definitely feel old.

I believe I am still pretty young, but at the same time I feel as I am just getting older faster and faster. Everything is getting more and more boring. I thought hey, graduating from school early would be awesome? And so I did, and now I work full time. Sleep, eat and work. Life is slowly just getting more boring for myself. I miss being young, in school and always outside with friends and doing stupid things. Personally I just feel unhappy. So yeah what makes me feel old? Life.

Man now that I turned 35 this past October just hearing how long ago some things were made is making me feel old.

For Example - The Karate Kid will be 30 years old soon...

Terminator 2 is 22 years old.

Michael Jordan is 50 years old and has been retired for over 10 years.

I could go on and on lol

As a teacher, I feel old every day. Thing is, I am only 25 and pretty much no different than a college student. But here are things that happen in school that make me feel old.

None of the high school students get my movie references

I get annoyed every time I hear things like 'yolo', or see references to things like Harlem Shake

When I hear songs from new artists and I think "God, I miss when music used to mean something"

I see a student complain about how stressful their schedules/lives are, and I laugh while I think that I would LOVE to be back when those were the only things I had to worry about.

When it is 9pm, and I am ready to go to sleep (For all you younger people, around 25 really is when that starts)

When a student asked me what it felt like when 9/11 happened

When I come to the realization that the 60's and 70's are no longer 40-30 years ago (that ALWAYS gets me)

When I hate current cartoons because the story doesn't have any purpose like cartoons used to.

When I realized that I can come up with way too many things that make me feel old.....

Other than arthritis in my  right hand and a few grey hairs, my younger siblings make me feel pretty old sometimes. The next oldest is my brother who is 9 years younger than me. I'll bring up cartoon's, games, family member's who aren't here anymore and they will have no idea what I'm talking about. lol 

I took my youngest sister the see Titanic in 3D for the 100th anniversary and she'd never seen it before. The movie came out before she was even born and I seen it in theatres. They call Home Alone old and again, I seen it in theatres when it came out. Does that ever make me feel old.

 

When I'm done with babysitting and I want to go to bed at 8pm.  I used to stay up till midnight but man these kids can zap all of your energy!

Kids don't know who Bill Clinton is.  O.O

How dry my hands get in the winter now.  When I was young I had nice smooth skin.... T.T

Playing Mario Kart Double Dash. It just brings back memories of when I was younger.

Seeing all my favorite games here brings back so many memories from when I was younger and would play the games with my brothers. When going away to college and on to bigger and better things, I always enjoy coming back to old video games. Even if they make me feel old.

People ask me what having a landline is like. And also all the generic old cartoon/videogames. Lots of people feel old because of those, but it still counts. lol

1) The Gamecube can be considered a retro console (DOES THAT MEAN YOU'LL PUT GAMECUBE GAMES IN THE RGR!?!?)

2) Pokemon is 15 years old, as well as Spongebob.

3) Sonic is 23 years old

There are a few things that make me feel old. 2005 was nearly 9 years ago. Teenagers I would see around the baseball park I would go to are now in their 20's, with jobs. The 5th graders from when I was in kindergarten are now in college, Club Penguin has been around for 8 years, along with Webkinz, Spongebob started airing 14.5 years ago, the Internet has been popular for around 18 years, I have a job, I am going to high school next year, a lot of things make me feel old. It's crazy how far away things that seem like yesterday really are.

I kept seeing this thread and thinking there was nothing that made me feel old. However... I then got around to some childhood memories, thanks to

Watching this just... shocked me. The styles, the dances, the faces....

I totally felt old. It made me smile.... remembering that kind of innocence... but it also made me feel quite old. That feels like it was so, so very long ago.  LOL

Explaining something that I liked from my childhood. I look back at the time I was so high on Pokemon & Catscratch & feel older as a result!
