I have my xbox controller plugged into the USB on my laptop. Trying to get it to work for vizzed. Mainly for N64 games like Megaman and Zelda. The original controls are just to difficult to enjoy the game. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get my xbox controller to work for these games??

I have tried the 1964 emulator which allows me to change the controls, but the emulator keeps crashing. So this is my only option. Either that or I suck it up and try to play with the controls given.

My controller is an Afterglow.

Have you tried using xpadder to configure the controls with it?
Xpadder is a program that is downloaded and it should let you configure the controls with it so you can play with the mupen emulator instead of 1964 one.

You said you tried 1964 emulator but it kept crashing on you. So I assume you are trying to get your controller to work with Mupen64. If that is the case, you are out of luck. Not only does Mupen not support control configuration, it does not support controller use as far as I know. You have to use the keys. If you want the controller, you have to use 1964.

dang major bummer. now all i gotta say is, who created the controls for these games. so hard to play the way they are.

I mean... shoot is my left pinkie, jump is my left ring finger and spacebar just speeds the game up, while im trying to strafe with my left pointer finger and perform movements with my right hand arrow keys. if i want to input commands i have to completely take my right hand off of my movement keys to hit ijkl. just sayin. major bummer.

still fun thought but so awkward its really just a pain.
