Did any of you guys ever played these games? I pretty much learned how to speak English with these back in the bad old eighties and early nineties. How "raunchy" they were supposed to have been seem so innocent when you compare to the stuff kids play these days. Or do they?

Just depends on what you consider innocent. We live in America, where a movie with nudity or brief sex scenes get slapped with R ratings and a movie showing people get shot in the head in cold blood can get a PG-13 rating. So in this society, depiction of sex is less innocent than depiction of murder, war, graphic death. I am with you completely that Leisure Suite Larry is FAR more innocent than stuff today, but I also think that the way we shield from sex and the way we shield from killing should be switched around.

rcarter2 :

Yeah, what you say is true and it is quite the opposite here. Back in even those days. The violent stuff was more likely to get censored than a pair of heavily pixalated pair of breasts. But in Larry games, it was marketed as some really raunchy stuff but actually, it was more about innuendo I think than anything else. And they were not considered pg-13. More like adults only.

Remember the questions only the adults were supposedly were to know the answer? My folks really struggled with those since they could not have possibly know all the finer things of the American popular culture.

I remember that kids wanted to play this game if you knew someone that owned an Amiga (I only knew like 1 or 2 and lived in the US)

I have played a few of them over the years. As a kid these games were as hardcore as they got, know they are just funny to look back on. Honestly they weren't that great of games overall - In my honest opinion anyways.
