I just got scratched in the back of my neck by my own cat while I was getting ready to sit on the chair. The cat started to sag into my neck and blood was coming out of the back of my neck on the left side. Any ideas what I should do if I get scratched by a cat in the back of the neck (near the throat)? The first person to reply to this post, I will go with your suggestion. I think it's just a scratch. It happens to me frequently because I've had my cat for about six years now.

bt82660 :
Try the give the cat some space and give it some treats as a positive reinforcement. Also check out the cats general health. If the cat is in pain, like say if it is obese and has pains in its joints because of that, it can contribute to aggressive behaviour. Make sure it also has places to climb, scratch and general safe places to go and just to express general cat behavior.

And no, I am not a cat person and I don't care much for cats. I like dogs better and I don't know if my advice are worth anything but give it a go or consult a vet. What is the little I know of cats is that these things are to be mended if you know the source of the problem. But there would be need for more info. Are there other cats or animals in the house? Is the cat allowed to go outside? How big is the place you live in? Stuff like this.
