Well, my favorite TV series was Star Trek the original series.  Other TV series, in no particular order:- Blake's Seven, Dr Who, Quantum Leap, Knight rider, Street Hawk, Robot Wars (UK) and a number of others.
As for films, only one series for me.  Godzilla, although I didn't like the Roland Emmerich version that much.  Looking forward to the new one, 3D and Imax.  

There was a Knightrider rip off series called Street Hawk I remember. It was nothing special but I remember it because there was some older kid who was called that because he used to ride a moped around the village and he really had no friends. So in his infinite wisdom our headmaster told a sappy story about him during the morning announcements and how we all should just let him be. This kid ofcource got even more infamous since we did not know him. We were around eight years old. I thought it was a sad story but I guess he got new, younger kids after that to throw stones at him when he rode by.

Who knows? Maybe he is an Hells Angel now.

I'm a huge fan of sci-fi and fantasy, so I expect that my list is going to reflect that pretty strongly:

Firefly/Serenity (IMO, one of the two best Science Fiction series ever made.)
G.I. Joe (The old animated series.)

Battlestar Galactica (Loved the old one, the new one is better.)
Lost in Space (The old TV series, not the movie.)
The Alien Franchise.
Doctor Who (I grew up on Doctor Who, the 4th doctor being my favorite from my childhood.  More recently I've started watching the new series and have developed a fondness for the 10th doctor as well.)
Highlander (Series and movies.  All but the second movie, which sucked!)
Game of Thrones (The books are better, . . hands down.  But the TV series is still something pretty special.)
The Walking Dead
Get Smart (The old series was one of the most brilliantly funny shows ever made, the newer series wasn't very good, and the movie was just ok.)

The Blacklist (This is the most recent series to have peaked my interest.)
The Lord of the Rings trilogy (Loved the animated ones growing up, and the live action ones simply took my breath away in the theater.)

Star Trek (Was a huge fan of the Original and Voyager.  didn't care for The Next Generation, and both Enterprise and Deep Space Nine were just ok.  I've also enjoyed the two most recent movies really well.)

as a kid I loved the V R troopers series
