To actually create new brain cells is slow and happens only in isolated parts of the brain; that being said, things like exercise, sleep, learning, etc, may stimulate those cells to replicate. It is still an area where there are a lot on unknowns.

What is certain is things that stimulate your brain, keep you learning, and encourages good health, have a positive effect on your brain, and likely have some sort of correlation to neurogenesis.
