I could use some some help finding games in the RGR there is just so many and I figure the old school peoples might have better recommendations so, any suggestions.  It can be for any game in the RGR though some Genesis, Snes, TurboGraphx, NES, SMS, or really just about anything.  And I'm not talking about the obvious choices.  I'm talking about games you personally remember enjoying back in the day and aren't already so obvious.  Also if anybody knows any playable PC-FX games that are fairly playable w/o knowing a foreign language please let me know.

fightorace : One good one that i beat like 5 times in the past 3-4 days is super mario land. One of my favourite games.
Also, a game i discovered recently that i found is felix the cat for GB and NES. Really fun and easy on the GB but kinda hard on the NES

mourinhosgum :  SuperMarioLand could be a tricky game. There were alot of secrets you could find if you tried hard enough.  I recently played it again and i beat the game but there were a few secrets I knew I was forgetting. Maybe the second I never played it wouldn't load on my desktop may it works in the RGR.

mourinhosgum : ?Thanks not a bad game I got to world 4-2 before having to save, I would go for the highscore on it even except there are already a couple "megascores" on the board.

More, people, more. ?

Edit:
mourinhosgum what are you doing in "geezer corner"? any way I'm still asking for recommendation from the older generation because they are more likely to suggest the type of "hidden gems" I am looking for. But still a good recommendation.

That I played back in the day?

Genesis: Toejam & Earl (epic crazy game); Toejam & Earl 2, Panic on Funkatron (not as epic as the original, but not bad); Theme Park (simulation); General Chaos; Bonanza Brothers; Haunting, Starring Poulterguy (only played recently, I hope that's cool); Comix Zone (found recently); Sonic 3D Blast; AlienStorm (recent find); I also used to love BattleToads & Double Dragon, but I haven't played that in a while, so I may not anymore.

SNES: Harvest Moon (obviously), Super Mario All-Stars (though an obvious choice; Super Mario Kart (obvious again); Sim-City 2000; Civilization (found this recently); Super Mario World (obvious).

NES: Splatterhouse - Wanpaku Graffiti (nothing like the other Splatterhouse games. More humor than horror. Also found recently); Contra (hardly a hidden gem); do I even have to mention Super Mario Bros. 1-3?; Bubble Bobble (found recently).

Arcade (MAME. Most of these were found recently)): the Metal Slug games; Knuckle Bash; The Percussor; the Strikers 1945 games; Popeye; Samurai Showdown (if you like tournament fighters); Aero Fighters (not even sure if Vizzed has those last two)

Also, some games I used to love, but haven't tried in a while (and some I doubt I'd still like) are: Bart Simpson VS. The Space Mutants (NES); Bart Simpson VS. The World (NES); Boogerman (Genesis); the Earthworm Jim games (SNES).

I intentionally avoided N64 and PSX. If you want to know for those, I can list a few more.

fightorace : My favorite games from back in the day for NES were Home Alone, Galaxy 500, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1 and 2, Ski or Die, Skate or Die 1 and 2, Maniac Mansion, Dick Tracy, and The Addams Family.  Those are some of the lesser known titles besides all the Mario ones of course.  I used to play all those with my brother, so hopefully they are not too "girly" and I did leave out The Little Mermaid even though I loved that one too LOL!

Eirinn :  There are a lot of good recommendations in there some I've already played of course but one imparticularly has my attention.  I used to hear things about Toejam & Earl back in the day, I'm going to have to try that out along with some of your other recommendations.  Also, I didn't know Nes had a Splatterhouse game gonna have to check that one as well.  Thanks for all your input.

kramer4077 : Yea I won't be playing the little mermaid but the Skate or Die games and Ski or Die have gotten my attention, judging by the titles they probably aren't too girly but if too much pink goes across my screen because of your recommendations I swear.... jk.  Thanks for your input.

These recommendations don't necessarily have to be ones you played back in the day but as the older generation of gamers ones you think you would have enjoyed.  Along those lines of thinking I'm figuring I will enjoy them as well.

fightorace : Sorry for the double summon here, and the late reply.

As Toejam & Earl goes, you really need a second player to really get the full effect. It's one of those games that's obviously made as a two player game, and one player mode almost feels like more of an afterthought. lol It's still fun in one player mode, but it's a lot better in two player. Maybe we should netplay it sometime. I'm trying to find people that want to play that one. lol

Some decent ones have been mentioned.  Don't ignore the story-telling ability of Dragon Warrior 1 and 3.  You can skip 2 and 4.

River City Ransom is a fun beat-em-up and you can upgrade by eating food and reading magazines.  It's a good one.

Super Techmo Bowl is a great football game and Bad News Baseball is a good baseball game.  RBI baseball isn't nearly as good.

Instead of Contra, try either Jackal or Guerrilla War for your shoot 'em up games.  Both are fun and different to the Contra style side scroller.  They're both upward scrollers.

A boy and his Blob is a good one that's a puzzle game.  It's challenging and will make you work unless you go to internet FAQs.

Those were all NES games.

The best SNES games are Donkey Kong Country, NHL 94, Gemfire, and the Final Fantasies.

have fun!

The first RoboCop for the NES is surprisingly a pretty decent one. It is a bit short though and pretty easy. Archon is a great one, but mainly when you have a real person to play against. But it is fun against the computer too (it is for NES). For the Super Nintendo, I would strongly recommend Act Raiser and E.V.O - The Secret of Eden. Those two are awesome.

Nostalgia attack!

The two games that came to mind when I started reading this are Milon's Secret Castle & Kid Niki: Radical Ninja. I remember playing both & I enjoyed them. I don't remember how long Milon is but I know Kid Niki isn't too long. I just love the name of the first boss from Kid Niki: Death Breath.

*goes to feed nostalgia attack*
