Alright, guys and gals, here's a scenario for you.

You work late (or go to school late, or out someplace late), say, around 2:00 AM. You get off soon, and one of your co-workers (or friends, or teachers!) asks if you can give them a ride. They live, quite literally, on your way home. You would make no detour or waste no gas. The only problem is, you don't particularly like this co worker. They're lazy, loud, etc et era. All the things that could make someone unlikable in that situation. Would you do it?

BONUS ROUND: You get a ride from someone instead of driving yourself home. Same situation. Would you ask for them?

(also sorry if this is in the wrong forum!)

If there is no reason not to drive them home apart from the fact that they are loud, obnoxious, etc, then absolutely I would drive them home.

If it was in anyway inappropriate (she is a young girl living alone, and I'm her boss), then maybe I'd think about it a little bit first; but it has nothing to do with their personality.

Bonus: If I really didn't like someone, I probably would try to find an other way home. If I was desperate (it was raining, I was late, cab fee is too high for my budget, etc) I would then asked them for a drive home.

If the rolls were reveresed, I wouldnt ask if I didnt like them, I dont want to be stuck with them.

I gotta agree with the posts so far.  I've given a few co-workers rides home that I didn't like, but even though I didn't like them my sense of empathy still would kick in and I'd do it.

And the bonus: If I need a ride and there is one available I'm gonna take it, how insufferable can a 10 min or so drive be?

I would take a ride from them. Heck, I've done it before! It was one of the worst experiences I've had. But getting home was all worth it.

Well if I had no other choice or no ride.. I guess it would have to work.. but if I don't like somebody I wouldn't want to ride with them.. it would be so uncomtorble and awkward for me.. usually if somebody dislikes you to the point of hatred.. you sure can't trust them.. so I would just wait there until I got somebody to.. even if I had to wait several hours.

There is absolutely no question I would give them a ride if it is zero of little inconvenience to me.  Just because I don't like a person doesn't mean I'm going to let them get stranded, especially if they're a coworker or I know them personally.  Anyone who would strand someone because they're not friends is a terrible person.  Karma has a way to come back and find you and slap you in the face.

That's just human decency, giving a ride to someone.  I can understand a girl not wanting to drive an older man home if she doesn't know him very well but there are no situations in which I wouldn't help another person.

Go help people.  It's that simple.

Well, if I really need a ride home and someone offered to take me, I'll probably just accept the offer, even if I didn't really like the idea. If I did had a way to get home though, then I would just stick with that way.

If someone needed a ride home and it's on my way, I'll just give them a ride. I probably won't even care if I did not really like that person. I'll just be nice and take them home.

If it is a classmate or someone that I am at least acquainted with I would definitely do so. I've dropped my friends off at home a few times before and it's never been that bad. Even if this case was bad, I would accept it for that one time and before (s)he got down I would kindly ask him or her to not ask me again if (s)he were being obnoxious the whole time.

Just because I don’t like somebody I work with doesn’t mean I’m going to make them go home alone that late at night when it might be dangerous. For me, it would be the wrong thing to do. As for the reversed roles, If I had to get home, I would do it, and maybe I would even be able to get to know them better.

If they were just loud and obnoxious, I wouldn't find that reason enough to not give them a ride home. Though if they seem like the kind of person that might stab or kidnap me, I might be able to find an excuse not to.

Depends on the particular situation really.

I would probably  take the ride on the condition that the said person keeps quiet. If my condition would be respected, maybe I  would have a bit more respect towards that particular party later on. Maybe.
