What operating system are you using?
I can think of a few good disk defragmenters as well as RAM cleaners (to free up ram that isnt auto freed) but they are each for different OS.
EDIT: Also a good way to free up extra space is to burn files you dont use often to CD/DVD and/or archive them as 7z or rar files

The one I used most on XP that worked was FreeRAM from http://www.bysoft.com/freeram.php
Its free. Give that one a whirl and tell me what you think, been awhile since I seriously looked at XP software
