Hey guys and fellow Vizzed gamers!
Thought I'd introduce myself. My name is BossIncorporated, or really, it's just Zach, but I'm rather new here. I just thought I'd start making a few friends and 'mingle' around a bit. Of course, after it took me about an hour to find out how to make a post...

Anyway, a topic for you all - shiny Pokémon.
I am a total Pokémon addict - From the time I picked up a Game Boy Advance and put Emerald version in, I fell in love with it. Nerd or not - I still think its cool. But this term of "Shiny Pokémon" is rather new to me - I understand what it is - but of course, re-living my childhood by playing Emerald version, I've more than beaten the game, and I have not seen one shiny Pokémon.
I read a small forum post on it, and it states there are no 'shiny' Pokémon in Generation III. Is that true, or just a rumor?
It has been bugging me for days.

Thanks,
BossIncorporated

BossIncorporated Yes thereare shiny pokemon in Generation III,but it depends on your Trainer ID number and some other factors so some people would have to start a new game to get a higher chance of finding any shiny pokemon whatsoever.

Hi there ! I am new myself but couldn't pass on comenting about this shinning thing.
Shiny pokemons have been around ever since Red Gyarados from gen 2. Back then it was extremely rare to see or even catch one, but at least the process was relatively straight forward. From gen 3 onward it became more complicated.

In Generation II, when a battle starts, the game picks four random numbers between 0 and 65535. If any of the numbers is less than eight then the encounter will be a shiny Pokémon. The chance of seeing a shiny Pokémon is 1 in every 8192, or 0.0122%. From Generation III onwards, shiny Pokémon are determined by other factors such as the Trainer ID number and the personality value of the Pokémon. They can sometimes become shiny when you perform the correct amount of Soft Resets (also known as SRs) through a shortcut. This can be a time consuming process, taking days or even weeks.

That's from the Pokemon Wikia.

Hope that helped and see you 'round.

Hello there Zach.  I hope you don't mind me calling you that, since it's easier and shorter to type. XD

I've only recently started playing Pokemon, but I HAVE enjoyed it.  I've never caught a shiny though... but I really, really want to.    I seem to have no luck though.. I've never even seen one in a Pokemon game.  LOL  I have White 2 and X, but I just got Diamond today.

I feel kinda bad that it took you so long to figure out how to post.  LOL  I see that you posted around a few more times though, which is totally awesome. If you need any more help, try checking this link.  It's a little tutorial game me and another member made, and the best part is that you can earn prizes by playing along. XD

If you ever have any questions, don't be afraid to ask the staff members. They're totally cool beans.

God bless, and have a wonderful night!
