The two half-creatures resurfaced after mating for an hour beneath the black liquid. Their red eyes were bright from ritual and from bloodletting. Rose gently nibbled at her mate's neck as he growled and hissed in delight. He knew, however, that they couldn't linger. Rose would be craving for human flesh, soon, so it was time to hunt again. He was kind of hungry, too, and knew where there would be more humans to pick from. Lee reluctantly got out of the tank with Rose following behind. They were almost out of the cell they had occupied when four humans emerged from the darkness. They were guards and, clearly, they were sent to track them. Lee immediately attacked them and knocked them out cold. He fed Rose first, who swallowed her first victim with ease. She picked up her second victim, a large brawny man, and also swallowed him with ease.

"He was a big one." Rose said, contently.

Lee hissed in agreement before devouring his victims. He led his young mate to a base exchange where humans bought their uniforms and the like. The two stole a few items. They needed to blend in with their prey after all. They crept along the dark halls of the secret lab. Once they were well fed, they made plans to break out of their prison and out to freedom.

The male had planned where he wanted to run to but he hadn't expected to encounter Rose in the lab. He planned to run to the open sea and figured that would work for him and his mate. He would teach her how to survive and adapt to the environment. After all, the one time he had been allowed outside, he had been forced to adapt to the forest environment and the ocean environment. That was when he decided that the sea would be his home. He hoped that his young mate would be willing to go with him. Secretly, he couldn't do anything without his precious mate. She completed him.

Rose suddenly hissed defensively. She sensed a hidden threat in the dark hallway of the lab.
