I like Grass starters because good Grass pokemon with a good move pool is rare and that's why Tortera is also my favourite starter the good stats and move pool.

Fire types are the best for me. They fight fast and hit with a lot or power. Cyndaquil/Typhlosion was the best for me in the Gold Silver Crystal era, Charmander/ Charizard was my favorite in Red Blue Yellow. Sadly, I really didn't like the 6 newest starters, although Chimchar and Infernape were nice, I hated Monferno (sorry Monferno lovers...). Typhlosion actually got me all the way through Gold all by his lonesome, even when it had a terrible move set (Flamethrower, Flame Wheel, Ember, Cut. What's not to like?). I just spammed Flamethrower and got through everything with no other pokemon until Clair. Had to use cut and a hyper potion to get her to die.
Anyways, fire type is my favorite.
