I have never actually tried that . But I do jog from my house to my church and I'd say its like I dunno know maybe half a kilometer . And it only takes me like 5 minutes so a mile would be like ........  20 minutes

I have not ran a mile in a while but when I was younger, about 11 years old, I did a lot of endurance cources similar to cross country. I did a 3 mile cource in 19 minutes or so, so that would take me around 6 minutes to do a mile. As I said that was a little while ago so I could be faster, or at worst slower !

My best mile time in my life was 4 minutes and 39 seconds. I am a serious runner so running a mile is nothing, but doing it quick is another thing. When I crossed the finish, I literally fell to the ground. This happened last year and I doubt I'll ever do anything close to that again. I'm also better at short distance running, which is my favorite type of run.

I never signed up for any sports in HS, but I remember my record in PE then was 5:40(I only ever got that close once), it was typically around 6 mins, I'm afraid to try it now... so old.

Wow some of you guys can run really fast!

I just started running in August with the program 'start to run'. For as long as I remember I've got Asthma. So running was not my favorite thing to do in school. But at the moment my top speed is10 minutes for 2 kilometer. That's like 8 minutes for 1 mile???

When I was back in High School I used to be in track, and then I was able to run 7 minutes average a mile. My Record is 6 minutes 2 seconds. Now if I tried, it would take me about 15 minutes. Never start smoking kids!

I was a cross country runner in high school. Thing is, I never timed myself for just a single mile. The only time I actually got a mile time is during a race, but I had another 2.1 more miles to run. My fastest mile marker was 5:47. Again, that was when I still had 2.1 miles to go. I know that if I only had a single mile to run, it would have been much quicker than that. But I am not going to make stipulations on exactly how much faster. Just significant considering I wouldn't be pacing myself based on having to run 3.1 miles.

When I was still in school I had to run/walk a mile every year as well and Sometimes I would run and sometimes I would walk it. But Everyone in our school finished walking in 30 minutes on the 2 mile track and running in 7-15 minutes on the other 1 mile track. When I ran the only year I ran I got it in about 15 minutes sense I am not the most athletic person.

my time would be 5 min and  below. not a runner but i have secrets techniques, some people train there life to run, just like you in high school i had issue with this but came up with an awesome technique to make you run 1 mile non stop at sprinting speed

My fastest mile was 5:36. I'm a distance runner, so I train for the 2 mi., 5k, and 10k. I'm not nearly the fastest on my team when it comes to the mile. My performance is much better in long distances where my faster friends tire out when I'm just getting started.

I reckon I could run a mile not much longer than 5 minutes. For the cross country try outs we did a 3 mile course an I finished it in 20 minutes. I know that 20 / 3 isn't 5 but I did run the last mile slower than the others and I did say little over 5 minutes,
I will have to time myself some day to see how I do against my guess.
