Their both the same game, the only difference is a few Pokemon that appear in one but not the other.
In Red you can get:
Ekans, Arbok, Oddish, Gloom, Vileplume, Mankey, Primeape, Growlithe, Arcanine, Scyther, and Electabuzz.
In Blue you can get:
Sandshrew, Sandslash, Vulpix, Ninetales, Meowth, Persian, Bellsprout, Weepinbell, Victreebel, Magmar, and Pinsir.

In my opinion Red is the far better choice as you get better and cooler Pokemon then in Blue.
Meowth is probally the only Blue only Pokemon that I would miss, only because of its Payday attack (free money).

Personally, I like Red but that's a biased point of view, because it was the first Gameboy game I ever got. I've played both, and they're pretty much the same, so I think that since they are incredibley cheap these days, you should go for both. That way you can trade with yourself.
