Man, I have been on such a roll this time with all my reviews! The last review I did was my 119th, and I am trying my very very hardest to find any interesting games on the vizzed board that I can review, And when It comes to genesis games, I have been reviewing most of the original sonic trilogy! And these games are pretty darn fun to review and play as well! So yeah, What game am I reviewing this time? Well guys, This is the first sonic game without any sign of the blue hedgehog anywhere! Instead, the star of this game is his evil arch nemesis Dr robotnik! But does that still make this game any fun? Let's find out shall we? This is Dr robotnik's mean bean machine for the Sega genesis!

Story-7/10
(WARNING: THE FOLLOWING STORYLINE I AM ABOUT TO EXPLAIN TO YOU GUYS THIS TIME AROUND DOES NOT HAVE THE WORD SONIC OR Superspeed IN IT! SO YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN WARNED!) Ah, just wanted to get that out of the way, But anyways! The main story of this game revolves around sonic the hedgehog's rival Dr robotnik and his latest scheme of the century! Today he is absolutely startled with how much fun everybody is having in the humble town of mobius! So to his dismay, He is going to kidnap all of the fellow citizens?of the town and place them in a brain washing machine so that way no fun or anything remains in the world of mobius! This is a really dangerous task, So you have to be extra careful! Or else the whole plan is a bust if we don't have anyone at the control! So anyways, That is what is up with the doctor today, Now let's get onto the actual gameplay of this game!

Gameplay-8/10
Dr robotnik's mean bean machine is actually believe It or not once again a clone of puyo puyo! Much like that other game I reviewed called Kirby's avalanche! I mean just look at the whole game! But anyways, This game plays like your typical puyo puyo game, You go head to head with another challenger, and you try to fill up your opponent's whole room before they fill up yours! The controls are pretty simple, you use the D-pad to move your bean stacks, And you use the A B and C buttons to rotate them left right or clockwise. The game offers a plenty of modes, and here they are! In scenario mode, you play through the game's main storyline as you adventure on a quest to help save the town of mobius from Dr robotnik's invasion, There is practice mode where you can brush up on your bean planting and stalking skills, and last but not least, There is the two-player mode where you can challenge a friend to see who is the better beaner at this game! In the scenario mode, each level has you facing against one of Dr robotnik's robots, And some of these guys include scratch and grounder, a driller robot and a mechanical chicken, Squeal, a pig like robot that travels on wheels, and so on! In normal play, There are alot of beans to be piled up, And these include refugee beans, these rock like beans that can only be deleted when connected to multiple beans of the same color, and so on! You can also create chain reactions, and these are really the kicker here! You see, when you have multiple beans fall off of each other at the same time, You send more and more trash to your opponent's room! The more chains you make, the more trash you send! This can make up for some serious damage for the robots later on in the game! As you progress through the game, Everything gets way more faster harder and overall tricker! So be careful! Anyways, that Is It for the gameplay!

Graphics-8/10
Despite being just a puzzle game, This game is still really really pleasing to the eye! I mean, the game really maintains the same old cartoony feel that you come to expect from sonic games like this! But anyways, upon starting the game, you are greeted to a dark eerie and stormy title screen revealing the game's title, this made me do It in?my pants the first time I played this game! And It still does today! But anyways, for the actual game! The game screen looks pretty darn simple! On the left you have your room, On the right you have your opponent's room, and in the middle of the screen you have you and your opponent's score and how much time you have spent! Oh yeah, in the middle of the screen, (Well most certainly in scenario mode) There will be a picture of your current opponent's face, as you outsmart them and bring more and more trash to their bin, they will start getting worried and worried, Or vice versa! As you start falling apart, they will put a glad look on their face! And once you finally finish them off, they will literately fall apart! I really enjoyed this feature! Really helped me concentrate! Now for the actual characters,? they look good as well! The robots themselves are very wacky, creative, and likable! You have arms, a robot with long arms, scratch, a mechanical chicken, Davy sprocket, a pioneer, and so on! So anyways, that Is It for the graphics!

Sound-7/10
As expected, the game has very kooky and very zany sounding music that really helps you prepare for what the rest of the game is going to be like, and that is important when making a game like this! But anyways, the soundtrack in this game is what you have come to expect from sonic the hedgehog, happy, cheery, bright, and just an absolute delight to listen to! Now to be fair, there isn't just one song for when you are facing against the enemy robots, as you progress through the game, the songs will either change, or just get faster and faster and faster! With the exception of the showdown with robotnik, where he has his own suspenseful theme to go with himself. Now for the sound effects, they are pretty good as well! You have your basic blops, boings, booms, and other kinds of stuff! Once again like the soundtrack og Sonic the hedgehog three, the game does use character vocals in most situations! Like as you connect chains, you get a voice clip saying "Yee haw!" And as It increases, the voice gets higher and higher! So overall, the game does have a good soundtrack in the end!

Addictiveness-8/10
I had alot of fun with this game back then! And here are some reasons why! The first reason is just how much fun the overall concept of the game is in general! I am not a total fan of puzzle games, but this one just really blew my mind! It is because how easy and simple It is to make chains and?such, I think I got a 5-6 combo chain a long time ago! And I didn't even know how I did It! Oh yeah, multiplayer and practice mode is pretty fun as well! You know, It's good to get practice on your bean stacking skills!

Depth-8/10
This game offers alot of stuff to do for a puzzle game! And here is what Is up! Well first of all, The game offers over three different game modes, Story, practice, and multiplayer! That really seems like alot if you ask me! And well, The story mode is about 12 levels long, so that will take you over 30 minutes or so to get past. Now for practice and multiplayer! Practice mode lets you brush up on your bean stacking skills on three different difficulties! I played this over and over again until I got better at the game! And last but not least, there is two player mode where you can challenge a friend, and I have nothing much to say for this mode except for that, It's two player fun! With a friend!

Difficulty-8/10
Here is a high point of the overall game! The difficulty can get quite pretty high as you adventure through your quest! And here is what I mean! As you progress through level after level, the game will start getting really faster harder and trickier! Actually so hard quick and tricky that you won't have anytime to place your beans and such! And oh boy did Dr robotnik blow me out alot of times! But if you are good enough at puzzle games, this one won't give you any trouble! For now!

Overall-8.6/10
I was really surprised by this one! I thought this game was going to be a lackluster puzzle game with the sonic license (Even though sonic is not here at all) But I really think they did a good job with this game! I mean, It is fun, It is challenging, And so on! I gave this game an 8.6 because It is both of those things! But anyways, This has been RedHotToddy In his 120th review!
