My step-dad bought a PS3 today & has tried connecting it to the internet but it isn't working. We've tried wireless but it says there is no signal in the area yet the Wii & my 3DS connect fine. We've tried wired connection & it isn't picking up a cable even though you can clearly see the cable connected to it. We've tried some of the suggestions that have been posted elsewhere on the net but they don't seem to work. Any suggestions?

UPDATE: It just picked up the ethernet cable so we can use it wired but it still doesn't like wireless.

UPDATE 2: We are now wireless but it won't connect wirelessly unless the ethernet cable is in it.... :/
I'm not complaining but there has to  be a better way.

Surgiac :  Sorry I know I'm not really contributing to this by giving any help, but the PS3 wireless capability is not that good.  I tried to connect mine wireless as well, but the connection dropped continuously until I succumbed and switched to a cable.  All my other wireless devices works fine on my network, so the problem is definitely with the PS3's wireless capability.

I just found it weird that it connected wirelessly only after it was wired up :/

Well, my step-dad is a trucker so he's on the road & took it with him. Hopefully he gets better wireless connections whenever he makes his stops. I'd still like to figure it out so whenever he tries to connect, he won't have issues.
