Kanto - Charmander. I'm just a sucker for Charizard. I mean come on, who wouldn't pick a dang dragon as their starter type. But on a side note I could make a perfectly balanced team if I chose Squirtle too. Blastoise is very capable. Bulbasaur just never cut it for me, but I usually hate using grass types.


Johto - Cyndaquil.  Typhlosion is great with " The Right Moves" <--Have a NON-rare candy lvl 96 on my old Silver version.



Hoenn - Mudkip. Shouldn't have to explain why.


Sinnoh - Chimchar. Infernape is a glass cannon. I tend to have at least 1 of those in my party that I save for when a trainer pulls a super hard Pokemon out of their arse. Thats all I used it for mainly. I would collect a better team, and just keep him for a "OMG HELP" moment.

Unova - Played my friends for about 30 mins. Please stop making BAD Pokemon games, YOU ARE KILLING MY CHILDHOOD!!!!!!!

Kalos - Only played this a handful of times. I think I used Froakie, I'm sure he was fine, but the game just didn't turn me on like the others.


For the most post I always choose Fire or Water. Grass is just a bad choice and when I pick it I always struggle. It's much easier to catch a different grass type in the wild so that's whats I have always done. Thanks for reading.

Gen 1-Charmander

Gen 2- Totodile

Gen 3- Treecko

Gen 4- Piplup

Gen 5- Tepig

and finally Gen 6- Fennekin

I pick my starter based on their looks really. There isn't any big reasoning behind what starter I pick. I just thought this ones is cool I'll pick him/her. That is it.

Gen 1 Disclaimer
I did not get to go through gen 1 until I played Leaf Green
but my gen 1 starter is Squirtle, but why. Well first off Squirtle's sooooo cute. Also Blastoise's water blasts can punch though thick steel. That's cool.

Gen 2 The Generation I started with.
Has to be Cyndaquil. First off I love the fire coming out of it's back. That's just awesome. Also once again Cyndaquil's cute as hell and Typhlosion looks so sick. Also the fact that he's the ‘Volcano Pokémon’. Also one more thing from the Pokedex in Y: It has a secret, devastating move. It rubs its blazing fur together to cause huge explosions.

Gen 3, also fun fact the first Pokémon I've ever gotten to level 100 By my self with no help.
Mudkip (Disclaimer: I liked Mudkip's before it was cool to like Mudkips)I love the look of Mudkip. Also as a kid I always wanted a pet Mudkip because I always wanted to give one a hug. Swampert was my first lv 100 that I raised with no help. Also It can swim while towing a large ship.

Gen 4
We have my first Grass starter favorite in Turtwig. First I love Ash's Turtwig from the anime. It had a charm to it you know. Also I love Torterra's look, and also, Some Pokémon are born on a Torterra’s back and spend their entire life there. One more thing, Torterra has bailed me out multiple times in my Pearl playthough, so it will have a place in my heart.

Gen 5
Tepig. To be honest I'm not the biggest fan of the Gen 5 starters, I don't know something about it. But anyways the Tepig line was the only one I used for a full playthough of Black, White, Black 2 or White 2. Embor looks cool I guess. Well It grows a beard of fire so that makes it cooler.

Gen 6
Yay I liked the starters again. Fennekin is my fav though. First it broke the Fire/Fighting cycle which I was very happy about. I mean I think my entire street heard me cheer when I found out. Also cute. Delphox using psychic power, can generates a fiery vortex of 5,400 degrees Fahrenheit, incinerating foes swept into this whirl of flame, don't make her angry.

But ya those are my Fav starters

Gen 1: Bulbasaur, because I didn't know what the cheese I was doing.

Gen 2: Totodile, because he looked the least terrible on the Game Boy. So I picked him. When the games were remade, I went with Cyndaquil instead.

Gen 3: Mudkip because I picked one at random. This was not long after the mentioned later "Diamond days" of third grade.

Gen 4: Piplup. My Diamond days began before I found much information, so when faced with the blind (this time) choice of starters, I chose Piplup, and have stayed with him ever since.

Gen 5: Snivy, I was torn between him and Oshawott, but I knew beforehand that Tepig would suck hard.

Gen 6: I honestly disliked all of the starters, but picked Froakie because I hated Fennekin and disliked Chespin. The lesser of three evils, as you may put it.

Charmander because he opens up the flier slot for someone else like Snorlax or Dratini and fire Pokémon are rare 

Jhoto:
Cyndaquil because he looks so cute and turns into an attractive beast.

Hoen:
treecko because it makes the game so much harder and I like a challenge.

Sinnoh:
Piplup because steel types are OP and it provides a decent range of attacks.

Unova:
Snivy because it makes the game harder.

Generation I: Charmander, because I like fire type and because Charizard looks f-ing beast .

Generation II: Cyndaquil, because I like fire type.

Generation III: Mudkip, because I didn't like how Torchic and Treecko looked.

Generation IV: Turtwig, because I thought it looked the coolest and because I knew what it would look like as a Torterra .

Generation V: Tepig, because I like fire type Pokémon and when it turned into an Emboar, I was so excited to pummel everyone with his ugliness but brute force as well.

Generation VI: Can't answer this because I haven't played it yet :O.

lol problem with giving reasons for me is because i dont really have a reason, i just have this unknown hate or love for specific ones, but ill try

Gen I: Charmander, because, well, im a bandwagon person maybe. plus its a DRAGON

Gen II: Totodile, Because i liked how he was a reptile and at that time in my life i was a reptile freak

Gen III: Mudkip, because well, this one was peer pressure. all my friends liked him and only him so it grew on me 

Gen IV: Turtwig, but only because i liked his move set more than the others

Gen V: Snivy, because well, A SERPENT %@$# YEAH

Gen VI: Froakie, but only because his last evo is a ninja like thing. i really dont like any of these starters.

Generation 1: Squirtle is my favorite starter of all time. Honorable Mentions: I really like Charmander and Bulbasaur, I would probably pick them over most of the other starters in all of the generations.

Generation 2: Cyndaquil because Typhlosion learns awesome moves like Eruption, Flamethrower, and Blast Burn.

Generation 3: Treecko because I love Sceptile.

Generation 4: Chimchar because I love how Infernape can learn Flare Blitz, which is probably my favorite fire type move of all time.

Generation 5: I give a slight edge to Oshawott over Tepig for the one fact that Emboar's fighting type gives it more weaknesses.

Generation 6: I haven't played X and Y, but I guess I'll choose Froakie.

I started from the very first region and I just played them as each region came out.

Gen 1: Charmander 
Reason: Like most people, I chose Charmander, because I thought Charizard was beast looking. And I was glad with my decision. 

Gen 2: Cyndaquil
Reason: Another Fire Type. After my experience with Charmander, I wanted the next Fire Type.

Gen 3: Mudkip
Reason: Because, the dual type of Water/Ground can be wonderful against Electric Types.

Gen 4: Chimchar
Reason: As you can probably tell, I love Fire Types. I also like monkeys, so I picked this one.

Gen 5: Tepig
Reason: Because I like Fire Types. That's actually about it.

Gen 6: Chespin
Reason: I thought Chepsin looked way better than the other starters, and I also wanted its evolutions, so I picked this one.

I'm going to ask to have this closed as its only getting like 1-2 posts every month.
