So... From what I have heard the fandom is reaching its zenith because Lauren Faust has stopped working on the show since season 3. Because of this people are saying that the show has suffered a major drop in quality that coupled with twilicorn and equestria girls. The fandom is reaching its end. To be honest with you I would not have noticed the so called "Drop" in quality if I wasn't pointed to it. As for the other things, they were bad choices.

Discuss the issue. Do you think the show as well as the fandom is reaching its zenith?

Like User said, the fandom probably won't die out entirely. Right now a lot of it is riding on some things for sure and there has been a handful of mistakes. I myself won't give up on the fandom, I don't have many issues with what has come thus far. Don't get me wrong, Equestria Girls and Twilight becoming an Alicorn was sure something but wouldn't be enough to make me turn away and hopefully not others. I'm hoping with the change that came to Twilight can be some new fresh ideas to come and work from there.

In truth, only time will tell what will happen to the fandom. I'm staying confident, hopefully others are staying that way as well.

I do not think that the fandom is dying, although some people say the have had made "bad" decisions, like Alicorn Twilight and Equestria Girls, although I think those weren't as bad as people say they were.

The fandom is still strong, and I don't think it will leave any time soon.

Why does Twilight growing wings mean the quality of the show has dropped?

I mean I don't understand, People usually state that My little pony: Friendship is Magic is great because the show is actually well written etc etc....  Twilight growing wings is Progression... Something you ever seldom see in a cartoon. 

Whether or not it was a bad choice is all down to people's personal opinion...

And you know what's ironic people who watch the show who say how great it is and that people shouldn't judge it just because it's a popular girl franchise... so what do "some" of the fandom do?... Judge Alicorn Twilight in like the 12 seconds of footage...As the demise of the fandom...

As for Equestria Girls. I respect that people don't like it, because it's not got the same setup as the cartoon series.. But can you honestly say that you hated it so much that it's made you not want to watch season 4? Can you honestly say it was so bad that'd you'd never watch it again?

FINALLY, as for people complaining about season 3... If I recall correctly a lot of people's favourite episodes are in Season 3.... The return of Trixie, The wonderbolts Academy, The development of scootaloo's character and the mirror pool...just to name a few...

This is why sometimes I dislike this fandom... WHAT'S THIS A SHOW THAT YOU LIKE HAS AIRED AN EPISODE YOU DON'T LIKE... WELL I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO LEAVE THE FANDOM.... DERP..

3. my little pony fandom also includes mlp&friends, mlptales, all of gen 3, and mlpfim.

4. the targeted demographic for mlpfim was family not little girls.

5. there are bronies who like the older gens and not just gen 4. take me for example I love mlp&friends and mlptales but dislike (not hate) gen 3 but if someone likes it im fine with that.

sonicmcmuffin : (Ahem.) sorry. Twilicorn in my opinion does not harm the series HOWEVER.
One of the main reasons people didn't like it is because of this rumor of her LEAVING the mane six. This rumor has been heavily proven.
1. Twilight does not appear in the new series of blind bags.
2. With twilight as princess, this means that the writers will more than likely have to give her a purpose.
3. The writers are obviously running out of ideas because they have rung out all of their characters. This means that they will need a new character to come in with new problems to fix. Think about it, The writers have to come up with a new message every episode. And they can only do so much with the characters they have.

Now, on to equestria girls. Here I do not see the problem. I personally hated the movie. It felt like a bad fan-fiction. But too me that is not a problem as it did not effect the show and it was a one time thing that will probably never be mentioned again. (I hope.)

Now on to the so called "Decline" in quality. From what I have heard Lauren has left the show. And because of this the series has kinda sunk. I can sort of see it. The show is getting more gimicky and they have CONSTANT fan-pandering in a desperate attempt to keep their audience. However.. I did not notice this until I was pointed out too some episodes that had a lot of it. For example "Sleepless in Ponyville" is an episode heavy with fan-pandering.

Yes, the show is falling. And its probably not climbing back up unless Lauren gets her head out of her behind and notices that SHE was the reason that the show became what it was. However it is falling so slowly that its almost impossible to see the decline in quality unless you are directly pointed to it.

Okay let's do this in order... 
 Rumor's... not facts...there are rumors about so many things and usually they are negative so that the rumor exists longer.
1) What's that got to do with anything? OH no their isn't a small figurine of her in a blind bag... This means she doesn't appear anymore.
2) She had a purpose to begin with, Just because she is an alicorn does not mean she will suddenly stop learning about friendship... 
3) Well of course.. But that happens with every single series... this isn't a problem that may affect My little pony: Friendship is magic solely.. It affects every tv series that carries on for more than one season.

Now this is my problem with your argument. You didn't notice any change until someone pointed it out to you. So therefore it hasn't got significantly worse at all.. Otherwise you would have picked up on it yourself... Also regardless of what people claim.. It's all based on opinion. NOT FACT....

Finally, I don't care if the show is apparently getting worse... I still like it regardless which of course is opinion and not in any way a fact...Personally I'm going to enjoy the show regardless of what happens because I like it.. If you want to sit there watching a cartoon and complaining about how rubbish it is compared "to the good old days" then what's the point of watching it... just stop moaning about things out of your control and enjoy the cartoon lol..

Okay, going in order.
1. The blind bag series ALWAYS have the mane 6. Because twilight is not in it this time around. It probably means that she won't be around for most of season 4.
2. It's obvious that twilight completed her lessons in some way. With the end of the season 3 finale. What with that whole "Look how far you have come!" scenario in the end of the season 3 finale.
3. It is true that this problem affects ALL tv shows. MLP: FIM is a different story. EVERY episode has to have a message that revolves around ONE subject. There is only so much you can squeeze out of that.

I specifically stated that the show is down falling but very slowly. That's why I needed to be pointed to it. The down fall is so minor so far that it really isn't all that notice-able yet. 

And finally  I have to point out the season 3 finale. Which was the episode I had been pointed too. I had not seen it prior.

I have to say. IT WAS AWFUL. Seriously. I am not saying its bad because of twilicorn, infact I like the design change.
But it was so bad! Ahem, let me explain why I didn't like it.

1. CONSTANT musical numbers. All of which I found annoying and pointless. And the opening one was just terrible.
"Can things ever go wrong? I don't think that they will!" Murphy's law any one? Jesus.

2. Almost no humor. One of the main reasons people like the show is because of its sense of humor. And just the down right clever writing.
Here there is almost none of it. The writers are aloud to try somethng dfferent but they don't have to slap us in the face with a HUGE change in writing.

3. The plot of the episode is just forced in there only to be quickly resolved and have twilight be turned into an alicorn for a sole gimmick. Why? So hasbro could make some bucks off of toys. What hasbro doesn't understand is that what they are dealing with is a fanbase that can't take as many punches as they are throwing at us. 

Every other episode in season 3 was fine. Even sleepless in ponyville while full of fan-pandering is decent. But damn, I thought the wedding episode was bad.

Opti101 : Okay... i really can't be bothered to try and explain why i think you are wrong... Especially when you basically use reasoning that is all based on opinions... So here is my advice.

Sit down and watch the show. If you enjoy it good for you, If you don't enjoy it whatever just stop moaning about it and trying to force your opinion on others.

You don't like musical numbers in the episodes fair enough,it explains why you dislike the wedding one as well then... That is personal choice.. it doesn't mean the show is worse... especially as it had musical numbers in it before.

Now you've had your say and you've expressed why you think it's getting worse... 

Finally nothing is obvious... not until it's released.. maybe twilight won't appear.. maybe she will... as far as i'm concerned i'm going to watch the show regardless... and i suggest that you do the same

Well, I don't know honestly, I don't see the fan base suffering at all really, The only thing I see affecting it is when we fight among ourselves and fight in general, Take this very thread for example, It's just an argument over the show. While there really is nothing wrong with a good argument it does sort of... What's the word? Rip us from each other to some degree, I mean we've got hundreds of thousands of people who hate us simply for liking a show, We don't need to be enemies with ourselves too, What happened to love an tolerance?

I don't agree with Opti's opinion, But I still respect it, I don't think I even share an opinion with anyone, Maybe, Maybe not... All I know is this, I still intend to watch the show when season four comes out and I'm sure plenty of other people plan on it too, I didn't even really have any problem with Twilicorn, Or anything with the show for that matter, Because I enjoy it for what it is, Not what I think would be best about it. I think that we should be able to respect each others opinions and not make a big deal of our own, I mean everyone has one, But people will anyway, It's just the way we are.
