Please help! Pressing F2 won't save Pokemon Platinum, none of the F controls do?

Hi all, I am new here  I am playing Pokémon platinum on Windows 8 and have not been able to get it to save, load, screen shot etc. My laptop is new, and I know the keys do work (on the laptop) but when I press them attempting to save, nothing happens aside from what the keys have on them (brighten screen, darken etc) Please advise, I don't want to lose all my progress, for now I am just keeping the window open and laptop on. Thanks!

Hold down the FN key (usually next to the left CTRL) and then press the F2 to save. Do the same thing with F4 to load the game.

For Gameboy advance games, if you are NOT using the Mednafen Emulator then saving in-game is recommended. On a side note, play RGR games using Nightly, *a windows 8 browser* it's more comfortable.
But if you ARE using mednafen then hold the Function key *Fn* and then press F2 save and F4 Load.

zeross121 : Saving in game isn't as efficient as saving using "save states" whether you are using the mednafen emulator, or the default emulator. Using the save states ensures that you always have your save file since the save states are stored on your local Hard Drive.

If you just use the in-game save, if someone clears their cookies/cache there's the possibility it could be lost.
