The FAQ says that there isn't a rule about it and that any thread that shouldn't get bumped will be closed, but that description is kind of too vague for me. So I thought I should use the Auto Close Thread script update thread as a guideline. However, I read somewhere that game reviews, which are located in the Vizzed.com family forum, shouldn't be bumped after a few weeks. I suppose that this is an exception.

So my questions are-

Are there any more rules about bumping on certain forums? How old should the last post on a thread be to be considered 'unnecessary bumping'?

I've seen many threads that have the same topic as another older one. Sometimes I wonder if the older one should be bumped to reduce duplicates, or if the older one should die down and let the newer thread thrive.

Mistress : I Don't believe there are any certain rules on bumping threads, and I don't think you will get in trouble as long as it wasn't intenional.

I don't think The older one should be bumped. I think that would lead to a lot of unessacary post count boost.

What's considered a unessacary bump in my opinion. is most likely if you are just bumping a thread for like a posting competetion or some kind of random purpose.

if the older thread dies, Most of the time it doesn't get revived, but if it does die. you can simply replace it with a newer one. I Believe that's more common. to keep the fourms a little fresh.

Hope I've answered you're question and have a nice day.

The reviews are kinda a different story, but if a thread has been dead for over 2 months I would personally close it. No reason to keep it open if no one could post in it during that amount of time.
