I prefer Bass.I love mega man more.But dont judge.

Mega man : More CDs Able to be gathered.But dont worry.not all cds are for bass.But as much save files you do.It doesn't matter.All of Cds for all of the save files have the same CD.Can Charge,Slide,And 1 Jump,a normal one.Some stages are easier for mega man.You can have 3 power ups ( Beat,Rush,Eddie) Which you dont have in bass mode.also more powerups.Sliding has less speed than dashing.But is more useful ( Some powerups are needed for mega man more ) Also,The ending for mega man is better.Also rush search for CDs so 39 cd at least cant be brought using Bass

Combines :
2 Slides = 1 Dash 
Charged shot = 9 rapid fire shots from bass.
2 MM Jumps = 1 bass jump ( if you need to)
Diffrent weapon looks,but they work the same

Personally I choose to have one file for Mega Man and one file for Bass, and do each level one after another. I personally don't worry about the CDs. It really gives a different experience for each level, as they are designed so that there's one Bass path and one Mega Man path.

I like to play with both choices to be honest. I usually have one file with Mega Man and one with Bass. However, Bass seems to do better in this game. Because he can aim his buster in different directions and he can double jump which is nice. He also due the fact can get more items.
