I think you would need to explain reasons why he is a clone. And calling somebody dumb because they don't know who a video game character is...that is quite harsh, even if he is the face of Video Gaming Worldwide. People are also entitled to their own opinion. They can like or dislike a game(just like you do) but they should keep certain opinions to themselves. Such as this one:

I understand this being a clone, but all because it is a clone, you shouldn't hate it.   This reminds me entirely of Us mario brothers 2 getting a hate, because it's a sprite swap of doki doki panic.
