Its been ages since I've played this game, if I remember correctly there used to be a way to make the character charge (run real fast) and bump into things (trees, book shelves etc).  Tried everything I can think of but can't seem to figure out to make him do it.  Course maybe my memory is incorrect, its been years since I've played this.  Thanks for any help/suggestions!!

Yes, that's exactly how you run in the game, but you'll need the Pegasus Boots to do so. I'm pretty sure you get them in one of the dungeons.
