Well, welcome aboard.  I'm fairly new myself, and so far so good.  I've wrote a few reviews for some classic games and got some decent feedback, so I'd like to think I'm starting to fit in a bit.  Whether you just wanna lurk in the shadows, or be active on the forums, doesn't matter just as long as you have fun.  We all share a common love for classic retro games here.
