When I first got introduced to pokemon I though Pikachu was the strongest ever.    I thought so because it was on the cover of the episodes and was very important in the anime.

Well this is an easy question! Pikachu is overrated because it's one of the main character in the anime, also it's so overrated because well we all like Pikachu and Pikachu's a hero and we sometimes want the hero to win someway or somehow. I believe this is why Pikachu is overrated.

They aren't overrated, they are popular. Pikachu are some of the worst electric Pokémon to choose from. 

Though, they are the mascot of Pokémon, and a fan favorite. Just because its popular doesn't mean its strong.
