In case you don't know what it is, Shiny Pokemon are Pokemon that are a different color of a regular Pokemon. They are slightly better than an original, they will sparkle when the battle begins, and there's a 1/8192 of a chance of finding one. (That also applies with a Shiny hatching out of an egg) My first Shiny Pokemon was a blue Koffing. I got it in Crystal. I found it in the area where you find the researcher who was researching the legendary Pokemon of the game.

The first shiny Pokemon I ever came across was a shiny Ferrow in Pokemon Diamond. The Ferrow was green and I accidentally killed it and I've haven't encountered any legit shiny Pokemon since then.
