What would you people prefer?
School to be 6 months and Vacation 6 months?
or do you like it School 9 months and Vacation 3 months?
I personally am not a big fan of school.
In my opinion, I would rather school and vacation be even and both be 6 months.
But, I won't argue if like it the other way. I am not judgemental like that.

I honestly would prefer to have school in 6 months and summer vacation in 6 months. I don't really like school that much.

EDIT: it's a typo. I meant 6 months summer vacation, lol.

I would say 9 months of school, and 3 months of Summer vacation. I have my reasons and I will explain them.

People and children need to learn MORE than they have Summer vacation.
If you have not learned much, you would not have been on Vizzed RIGHT NOW.
You make a lot more mistakes when you are not at school, when you are supposed to be.
Without much education, you could get ARRESTED and maybe you could get arrested for LIFE.
School is more important than Video games, or TV, or music or whatever.
Education.. Can not be defeated and never bad for you.

See, There's lots of things about school and more stuff. There are lots of dangerous things you could run into WITHOUT school or education.

So be sure to attend classes and be a good student. Education and School beats them all.

Remember: You could be ARRESTED if you did not attend college or have much education.

I agree with Black Bot on this. We do need more education badly then we need to have a break.

-We are ranked lowly for education and we need to bring that up
-If we have longer breaks then that means we have spent a longer time away from school and getting educated, and we forget certain topics that we need to waste more time re teaching ourselves to get familiar with it again
- School is VERY important and it is key to stay educated and do well in school to be successful in life
- Education time is valuable and precious and we need to spend more time focusing on educating ourselves then becoming lazy and taking breaks and doing nothing by just being away from school.


Overall, as much as we enjoy summer vacation, school is important and we need it to be educated

I don't know what to think school can be fun depending on the teacher.So I guess school 6 months and vacation 6 months.

Well of course it would be better if we had 6 months of summer and 6 months of school. Who wouldn't?

School here in Ontario is 10 months, with a 2 month vacation in between each school year. I like it this way because I would get very bored without seeing my friends at school, and I think that 2 months of no school is just enough. If I had to pick one of your options, it would be 9 months of school and 3 months of vacation because it is closest to how I like it and how I am used to it.

Definitely would not want 6 months of vacation. For one, a lot of the content just cannot be taught in 6 months. Teachers would really have to dumb down the information to fit it into a 3 month semester (school is split into 2 semesters). On top of that, practice leads to mastery. Students these days rarely bother to even work a little on school during the weekend. It is frustrating to have to play recap with my students on Monday over what we went over on Friday. When there is a 3 day weekend, it is crazy how much of a difference that is. 3 months is already a long time to not focus on their education. Students forget a LOT over summer break. If they had as much vacation as they did school, I wouldn't want to imagine how much they would forget. If students actually spent maybe a couple days a week during vacation JUsT thinking about what they learned during the school year, that would do wonders. 

I actually wouldn't object to having 10 months of school and 2 months of summer break. Now, before anyone jumps all over that, think about this. Having one more month in the school year means that your school days  would be shorter. When the average school day is over at 3pm, that only leaves you with 4-5 hours of daylight for other things. If you have a part time job, it is really hard to have a social life. think if you could be done with school everyday at 1pm.  You would have a lot more time to get your school work done early, and still have more than enough free time to hang out with your friends or do whatever. I wouldn't be opposed to that.

sdslayer100 : I think that depends on the catch... There is talk of year round schooling that offers short summer vacation but you go to school 4 days a week instead of 5. You still go to school the same number of days... If you were to suddenly cut schooling down from 9 months to 6, how much of your weekends are you losing and how many more hours a day would you need to give to the schools?

I'd say only nine months of school and 3 months for vacation because my birthday is in the summer and when my birthday ends there will be nothing to do after it so what I'm saying is that it's going to be really boring without any outside communication plus that's what I've been going with nine months of school and three months of vacation for a long time now so if no 9 months of education I'll be really stupid and wouldn't be where I'm at now.

You have to understand that you must be in school a certain amount of time within the year. So 6 months and 6 months means that your school day will be pushing 11-12 hours a day

I say nine months of school 3 months of summer vacation because to me if you make summer any longer they will make you stay in school later.

Fireproof : Thing is, most of these kids saying they want to cut school from 9 months to 6 months, they are saying they want to CUT the amount of time you are in school. They aren't looking at it as they are supposed to be in school for a certain period of time each year. They aren't thinking of it in terms of having to make up the time by lengthening the hours a day. They just want to have only 6 months of school and not make it up in any way. They clearly don't understand that it is impossible for any teacher, no matter how good, can teach the information required to understand the topic in that little amount of time.
