Basically what I'm going to do is complete the game using Pokemon that everyone kind of glosses over in favor of the powerhouses, such as Lapras, Espeon, the Legendaries, Ampharos, and so on.

Feel free to post any Pokemon you feel is decent enough to get through the game that isn't common. Things like Heracross, Poliwrath, Noctowl; to name a few.

I'd recommend trying Sentret/Furret, a.k.a. the 2nd gen's Rattata. I actually like it & it can be pretty decent if you put a little effort into it.

Sounds pretty cool. I've played the game for a while, and I think a noctowl or jumpluff might be good. Noctowl has pretty good defense and jumpluff is very speedy.
