This month's competition is for 'Donkey Kong Country - Competition Edition' for the Super Nintendo. You can play it here:

This is the competition edition of Donkey Kong Country. You have 5 minutes to score as many points as you can in the available levels. This was a real game that was used for various competitions held in the 90s, such as the 'Blockbuster World Video Game Championships II'.


MEGA Competition:
This is going to be classified as a Mega competition because not only do 5 people get prizes but there's also cash prizes.


VIDEO REQUIRED: You must post a video of yourself accomplishing the score you submit. You must use the RGR Plugin's built in video recording capabilities.


RULES: You MUST play the game using the RGR Plugin in 'Timetrial Mode' and take a screenshot of your top score from that by pressing F6. To play in 'Timetrial Mode', scroll down the page where the highscores appear, you'll see a link that says 'Click Here to Compete for Highscore', click that. Once you've taken your screenshot, click the link near that one that says 'Click Here to Submit your Score' to submit your score. The video MUST be uploaded to the vizzed youtube account.

1st = US $50 or 50,000 Viz
2nd = US $25 or 25,000 Viz
3rd = 10,000 Viz
4th = 2,500 Viz
5th = 1,000 Viz

Glad to see another "made for competitions" game. The 5 minute time cap makes them more approachable for people with less time on their hands but nearly imposibble to master even if you do invest the entire month playing it.

Just to be sure.. Does my video meet the requirement of "The video must be uploaded to the Vizzed Youtube account." because I uploaded it to my youtube and placed the link in the description as it said and uploaded it to the Vizzed page but I'm not sure if it was done properly. This was my first video and first time actually uploading it.

jerryaberry : Yeah I wish there were more games like this but as far as I know, there's only 2 games made for competitions.

I agree, the 5 minute makes it very approachable. For a busy person like myself, it's easier to spend 5 minutes here and there rather than a straight 60+ minutes.

Fireproof : It has to be uploaded to the vizzed youtube account. You can still submit that same video to the vizzed youtube account.

Can I join this competition?

Davideo7 : Ok, I've done it successfully! This means I have 2 of the same videos on the page now, does it matter if there's 2 of the same or is there a way to fix that?

How do I upload to the vizzed account? I want to get back into the competitions after a two year hiatus.

pokedude07 : After you've recorded your run using Mednafen and played your run through choosing "Compete for Highscore" you can submit your video to Vizzed youtube by going to the section where the videos can be found for Donkey Kong Competition Edition and to the right it says "Click to Upload your Video to Vizzed Youtube". You should download the freemake converter and it will help decrease the size of your video and help increase the speed in which it uploads.

pokedude07 : Near the video section of the page, there's a link titled 'Click to Upload your Video to Vizzed Youtube' that allows you to upload videos to the youtube account.

What if you aren't able to upload a video on here? I have discovered that trying to record a video just slows my game down, so rather than 5 minutes, I have 10...is there anyway that I can fix that?

speedydasher : Try restarting your computer and make sure that the only thing you have open is vizzed (and maybe make sure that it's the only tab open to just to be safe). Let me know if that works.

hi, i am having the same problem as the other poster where when i try to record a video then the game plays in slow motion, vizzed is the only page i have open, i would like to know if evry1 else is having this problem.  when i played last months NWC90 comp i was having a similar lag problem but it was nowhere near as bad as this, however when i record a vid of supermarioland for the speedrun contest there doesnt seem to be any problem with lag at all, it seems specific to certain games.  i'm playing the games on a laptop and im from the uk, maybe these might be the problems but it seems i wont be able compete in this donkey kong contest which is annoying cuz i got that strategy down and really want to compete and of course win lol

I have another queery, if i am recording a video and i make a mistake and want to restart my run, can i just keep pressing reset and it will reset my video or if i do this will it keep on recording these resets so my video will end up being say an hour long perhaps with all my mistakes making it unacceptable and also would mean taking forever to upload to vizzed youtube page?  thanks 

Not sure why certain games have lag while recording but it feels like a computer deficiancy and not the internet connection. I normally get the same amount of lag when I'm at school where the internet is easily 10X faster. Also, when the game loads I'm pretty sure it doesn't communicate over the internet anymore until you attempt a screenshot. Ducktales and Super Sprint had the worse lag for me while SNES games seem to run fine. Don't know much about this stuff so all I can do is post my observations.

jerryaberry :   so do u reckon it is my laptop which is causing the slow down then, it has an i5 core processor, could this have anything to do with it.   did u experience this slow motion when u recorded your run? what are u playing it on.     Also i think it is now going bad in supermarioland .  i've been trying to record this perfect run but whenevr i get to world 3 it starts getting laggy and unplayable, its so annoying and unfair   

I'm pretty much in a similar situation to you FAST N BULBOUS. I have an i5 Toshiba laptop with 6GB of ram. My lag on Super Mario Land is 5-10% or 1-2 minutes of each speedrun. I'm curious to hear from someone with an i7 and see if they have any issues. An i5 should be able to do several things at once though. Also, perhaps it's a graphics card issue of which I know nothing about. A couple other things to throw out there is the fact that my computer never seems to know that I’m actually doing something when playing a game. This causes processes to start up thinking that I am idle. Lastly, considering we can shrink the video to a 20th of their original size with hardly any noticeable loss in quality, you’d think if we could record at a lesser quality from the get go there would be less of an issue with this.

FAST N BULBOUS : When I recorded my video I had to deal with lag. I never had to deal with slow motion but the lag spikes were somewhat difficult to maneuver around and led me to starting my games over and over. Simple things like rolling and timing my jumps were absolutely difficult at times. I don't think there is a way to fix it and if there is, it's by finding a program that runs better than Mednafen. Unfortunately I don't think anything can be improved at this time to make it smoother. The best piece of advice I have to offer is to play and get used to the lag spikes. Imagine your game being where you should be when that happens and eventually you'll get used to it.
