The rarest pokemon that I caught was a Shiny Numel. I know numels are not that popuar, but who cares? Its a shiny, and shiny pokemons are like so rare. I think you have a 1/8_ _ _ (I don't really know the exact numbers) of encountering one. Pokemons are so mysterious, some shiny pokemons doesn't even look good with their colors and being a shiny doesn't have an increase stat effect or something. Anyway, I think shiny pokemons are just for showing off, for telling other people that your lucky in some way. Pokemons Are So Cool, especially when their shinnies!

The rarest pokemon I have catched has to Sneasel or the legendary Kyurem because after many times of looking for one of my favorite pokemon of dark types Sneasel, about an hour maybe just to find the thing and after using it I liked it because it was fast and looked amazing in design, But the Kyurem took so many times after having a team around 50-70 and after failed attempts, luck struck catching it in a Great ball then finding out it wasn't that great but made my day after catching it.

I would say shiny Rotom in Pearl because of the fact you can only catch it once. That was a huge surprise for me...but sadly, I don't have it anymore.

I'm pretty sure most people catch all the legendary Pokemon, so I guess those don't count as rare. So, the rarest Pokemon I've caught would probably be shiny Ponyta. It's the only shiny Pokemon I've caught, (other than the red Gyarados) so I guess that it's the rarest.

That one Spinda I caught. It was so unique. If you caught a shiny Spinda then consider it the rarest Pokemon you've caught. Heck, any Spinda you have is the rarest.

The rarest pokemon i have ever caught is either the shiny vulpix i caught in leaf green or the shiny aron in ruby.
The vulpix has a good story to go along with it.
The only reason i caught it was because my sister wanted me to catch her one because they are leaf green exclusive.
So i caught the first one i found.  I didn't know it was shiny until after i traded it to her and she used a fire stone on it and the nintetails was silver. So all in all i blame the game boy advance because of the bad lighting they have.

Does Missingno. count? If so, then I would say Missingno. 

However, besides that, I did happen to catch a shiny Sandshrew. Then it evolved into a shiny Sandslash, and it looked really cool.
