Nintendo / Wii U

Do you think Nintendo is in a very bad spot right now?
Yes, and their console days are over.

They've hit a BIG bump, but might come back.

marcus047 : It's true so far there isn't much in terms of games for the Wii, but coming out from now until 2014 we have Pikmin 3, Zelda HD, Donkey Kong country, Mario 3D, Super Smash Brothers, and a few more I'm forgetting. Also, it doesn't have a ton of new non-gaming features, but it has the basics, and it's basically "just" a gaming console. This makes it much cheaper and that might be all that people want right now.

They are doing fine, not as well as the NES days, but they are doing fine.

They have a head start in the market, and the Wii U appeals to almost anybody.

Nintendo will always be fine on some level. They own the rights to several of the most popular game franchises/characters of all time and those games will have a huge fan base for a long time to come.

Its going to happen sometime in the near future where game consoles as we know them cease to exist. It may become time for Nintendo to start finding other ways to release their games. Similar to what Sega did when they got out of the market. There's no doubt that Nintendo will make money in some way, they will just have to adjust their business model.

One thing I can say for a fact, is that if they continue to want to sell consoles, they need to better understand how important online gameplay is and other online content. Not sure why they have such a hard time with this, but that is their biggest downfall.
