I think hockey is generally boring and it doesn't appeal to me so I don't think its under rated and they said something about hockey players going on strike one time and my expression was like 0_0...people actually care?!.

I believe hockey is very underrated (In the United States). Hockey is probably the most fun sport to watch. If you've ever been to a hockey game you will become a hockey fan for life. There is nothing like it. Most people that say they don't like hockey have never watched it.

Well for Canada it isn't but for the other country it not really underrated but it the biggest in Canada and in Russia 

Around here it is not. It is deadly serious and our best players go to the states to play. So if they get that good pay there, I would not think it is so underrated there either.

I love Hockey but i only watch college cause the pros just get in fights and that stuff just gets old in my opinion and the kids in college try harder cause they are doing their best to get in to the pros

ice hockey is really good and very underrated and unfortunately tv stations rarely play many of the games.   

Oh no, it's OVERATED.

It is very underrated at least here in the states anyways. I don't know how it is everywhere else but we only have the NHL and not many games are show from outside the market you live in (at least I live in my teams market)

It's a bit underrated, only because it's way overshadowed by the other sports going around at the same time. I don't mind hockey myself, but I don't really follow it 100%, but it deserves some more credit.

On the contrary.

I think hockey is an overrated sport. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't see the point in what is effectively MMA on Ice. The games are as low scoring as baseball without the action in between. There's drama with baseball, because you can be 90 feet away from home. In hockey you either make the shot or you don't. So kind of like basketball, but with a lower score.

And plus, it's violent. I don't like violent sports like hockey and football.

Anyway, I do find hockey to be a drastically underrated sport. It deserves much more attentions that it is receiving, and, honestly, it is better then soccer.

Not really. Its not a worldwide sport like soccer or cricket. Its a national sport so it's only gonna be popular in places like Canada. Too me it's all I hear. I don't know what part of Canada you live in but I can't get enough of it. But football isn't really that popular where I am but is really popular in America because it's a national sport there.

I like hockey a bit but I do feel like it's underrated one of the reasons being because it is overshadowed by other sports at the same time.. I know very little about hockey but I do enjoy watching it when I can.. Even though it's a world wide sport all these other sports in place of it kind of take charge somewhat I guess you could say.

The challenge with hockey is the equipment required and the space needed.  Think of all the gear you need to play ice hockey.  That limits a lot of people who live in either warm weather environments, do not have the money to spend on ice time and gear, and get the sticks, the pucks or balls, the roller blades or inline skates, the nets.... it goes on and on.

Football?  Get an open space and a football.

Soccer/football? Get some open space and a soccer ball

baseball?  You need gloves and a bat but you don't even need a lot of room to play catch.  And there's wiffle ball and other versions that people can take up.

Basketball?  Go to a park.  Most cities and almost all schools have basketball nets available for play.  There aren't a lot of ice rinks sitting around waiting to be used.

Hockey is a good sport and takes skill and strength.  It's simply not popular and appreciated because most people don't have access to it.

Yes, hockey is severally under-rated, especially here in the Southern U.S. Certain parts it actually is picking up (like here in Florida, the Lightning are becoming quite popular). If you look at the major sports networks like ESPN virtually no coverage. Take the Top Ten plays they run daily, I will see the same dunk performed on a daily basis by various players make their list, and usually at a top spot, while a hockey play that goes coast-to-coast, shrugging two to three players off while maintaining control of the puck and then beating the goaltender WHILE being taken off their skates virtually gets unnoticed. Always physical, and more often than not you have non-stop action. As for the equipment issue, please, when I was younger all we had were sticks and a ball. You want knee pads? Grab some egg-cartons. Goaltender? Sofa cushions for your legs and some pillows for body protection. If you can play tackle football without equipment, you can play hockey on the street provided you have a ball and some sticks, which can be found cheaply. 

Oh and for a net a simple trash can could be used (I wouldn't use a goalie in this case).

Hockey is extremely underrated in my opinion. It's one of the only sports that I really enjoy, yet it never gets any syndication around here, so I can't watch it. I don't like sports because I don't really like or dislike BaseBall, BasketBall, or what we decided to call FootBall in the states. And around here, those three games are synonymous with Sports. The only sports I enjoy are Hockey, Soccer, Golf, and Tennis (to a lesser degree). No one here seems to even acknowledge those as sports though.

Move over to my City and Hockey is all you hear about haha XD. It's probably close to over rated here.

You've gotta be pretty tough to play hockey. Having people smash into you, and slamming you into walls is not something any person can do.
Its fun to watch and I used to play in 2nd grade.
