So I was possibly considering making a video for Vizzed but there's a problem and a few limitations... The issue I'm dealing with concerning Mednafen, is that the frame rate is extremely slow for me and it only seems to effect Super Mario RPG. Other games I've tested Mednafen on seem to work without issue. I don't think I do anything to cause issue here but maybe I'm missing something.

The limitations of Mednafen prevent using a lot of the options that the other emulators have. I'd like to see if there is a way to use "escape" and access the menu that the SNES emulator has, for example. I also love to use my fast forward, too much storyline to sit through in a video... you know? Anything we can do about that?

Fireproof : Mednafen doesn't really have limted settings itself it's just that it's settings are limited with regards to using them in the RGR.

Keep in mind that Mednafen supports full-screen as well by holding Alt+Enter

Mario RPG is one of those games that doesn't emulate particularly well. Especially with regards to Vizzed.com

I tested the game myself and usually have no issues with any games but I do notice slowdown with Mednafen, although I have no issues with ZSNES.

Unfortunately there's no way to really fix this particular problem except to see if we can find a version of the rom that works better.

If you really want to do a video of that game, you may have to do so offline using Mednafen or some other emulator.

Jordanv78 : Ok so even if Mednafen is limited use with RGR, is there any way to make it possible to use those settings like you can with the ZSNES and even more particular with the fast forward?

Keep in mind that you're talking to someone who has never used Mednafen and does not know the capabilities of this unfamiliar feature and things like "alt+enter" are shortcuts I'm also unfamiliar with. In the past I've noticed full screen to run slower on my comp, so if this holds true, it would do the opposite of what I'd like it to.

And if I wanted to do a video, offline, is it still possible for me to upload my offline video to the Vizzed website? And, what are other possible options in recording my game play? (This is, essentially, a test for me to see if this is something I would do more of)

Fireproof : In the future more of the native built-in settings in each individual emulator might be made available, but there is no timeline on doing so.

Alt+Enter isn't difficult. Just hold Alt+Enter on your computer keyboard while the game window is active (By clicking on it)

If full screen games are slowing down your comp, especially older games, you probably want to look into getting better hardware (ram/graphics card) Because playing+recording is probably going to cause you issues.

If you record a video offline I was more referring to posting it to your own youtube video. If you wish to record videos and upload them to the Vizzed.com channel, then you would need to use the plugin. In that case, you would be better off choosing a different game.

Most games that I have tried have worked fine recording. I have like 20 videos up myself of gameplay.

Jordanv78 : I am well aware of the complete obvious and honestly, I think you are the wrong person to ask for help on this task because half of what you're talking about holds absolutely no relevance on my issue. I'm not asking for times when these features are made available. I'm also not asking for an explanation on how to use alt and enter and honestly, your responses seem quite unfriendly to say the least.

My computer has the capabilities of running several much more modern day games like Civilization IV and Red Alert 3 with little or absolutely no issue. My issue, again, relates to running the emulator in full screen. I'm not asking for advice on what I should do to fix that either. Also, the power of assumption can become a very frustrating tool that should not be used.

I'm not interested in posting videos to my youtube, only interested in uploading videos straight to the Vizzed channel and here on the Vizzed website for gamers to see. I don't want that attention on my youtube account.

Congrats, I'm sure your experience will one day make you much more helpful than you currently are.

So now, I'm going to re-word my unanswered questions:
1. What are the limited settings of the Mednafen emulator when used in the RGR plugin? (I Know you can change controls and record videos)
2. Is there any way to use the Mednafen emulator on Vizzed without using the RGR plugin? + What are those options you can use that aren't available to use when you play Mednafen with the RGR plugin?
3. If I recorded a Vizzed game from an offline recording, is it possible to upload the recording to the Vizzed website?
4. What are some other possible options to recording my gameplay? (If possible to upload to vizzed from another recording source)

I do apologize if my post comes off as unfriendly. I feel as though my questions are unanswered and partly due to the frustration of trying to get Mednafen to work. I'm just looking for straight answers and I'd like to remove the "beat around the bush" attitude I've received so far.

Fireproof : Look, first of all I apologize that somehow you were offended by simple advice that I gave you in my previous posts. With regards to alt+enter I was just mentioning a feature of Mednafen which in some ways makes it better than the default emulator. So I apologize if that offended you.

I am here to help, and I am one of the most qualified users to do so. I often provide assistance to anyone that needs help with the RGR. There are only a few members on this site that have more experience than me in that regard.

I also have worked in the IT and computer software development industries for 10+ years. As well as being a global moderator of the site.

Again, I apologize if you are offended, nothing that I said when giving advice was meant to come off as negative, nor did I attack you personally. Everything that I said to you was family, friendly, but what you said in response to me most definitely is not. I do not deserve to be treated like you are treating me.

Here's a brief rundown of what I said to you before.

Unfortunately, Super Mario RPG does not emulate on this site well. I have tested it with Mednafen myself and confirmed that it slows down just as you suggested. Since this is the case, there really isn't much you can do with regards to fixing that lag without using the default emulator, that doesn't support video recording. You are more than welcome to upload a video of this game using Mednafen but you will have to put up with the lag we have been speaking about. I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause, but that's the way it currently is. You are more than welcome to record gameplay footage for any of the 1,000's of other games that currently work with Mednafen perfectly fine.

1. The only menu options for Mednafen on the site is changing the controls and recording your gameplay. That's it.

2. No there is no way to use Mednafen on Viz without the plugin. Plugin is required to use any of the plugin emulators. The only emulators available without using the plugin are the java based emulators that don't support video recording or save states.

3. It is usually required that in order to post videos of gameplay on Vizzed that you use the RGR plugin to do so.

4. There are plenty of software programs that allow you to record gameplay footage. Google will refer you to a bunch of them.

all of my answers have been clear and direct. So I'm not sure what you are referring to regarding "beating around the bush" but I can tell you that I don't appreciate you treating me poorly because you are frustrated about a video game/website that is a free service to you, as well as my support of such.

Feel free to PM me directly if you have further questions regarding this matter.
