Hmm... I would have to say I like the original better, the second is more of a platformer with some RPG elements and doesn't really fit the mold as such.
It's a good game in its own right, but I prefer the original.

the first one is obviously the best, the second one is just so hard. However, you can get really good at the second one and run through the dungeons killing every monster in one hit using the up stab and down stab, and its really one of the most satisfying things in videogames ever.
