Sounds like a stitch to me, I could be wrong. Thou when I have needed to run for a good distance for a set amount of time, I have gotten stitch pains in the area the liver is located to. If it isn't that then I have no idea I am afraid.

You should not push yourself too hard. If it even slightly starts to hurt, stop.

It sounds to me that you aren't breathing enough when you run? Does it feel like cramps in the liver area?
It does not matter about the level of intelligence. It matters about the level of determination.

Husker Fan : Or...It could be a cramp! Cramps suck...and you will get them from time to time. Just make sure to drink plenty of water and pace yourself! The pain doesn't affect how fast you run...you just are not tempted to run fast to avoid the pain.

It might how much you hydrate. I know when I do not hydrate enough or hydrate too much when I have to run for P.T. ( I am in the Army ) , I have to make sure I don't drink too much, but still drink enough the night before. Also, don't eat too much, and moderate your meats, and you sugary and salty foods. That could be another thing.

Ignore what tails the fox said. What you are experiencing is normal side cramps from doing aerobic exercise. If you do what Tails said and stop the moment it hurts a little, you will never be able to run without that happening. Your body is simply not use exercise that requires so much oxygen distribution/use. Just practice running everyday, and your body will condition itself to where you can run longer and faster without feeling those cramps. Of course, you need to learn proper breathing while running. But it is mainly conditioning. Just sounds like you are a little out of shape for running. But if you keep it up, it will get better.

As a tidbit, it isn't actually your liver feeling pain. It is your abdominal muscles.

rcarter2 : WELL PUT! I don't think anyone could have said it better. I said something similar to it but didn't detail it enough...
