I'd have to say that I'm a dog person. Dogs are more loyal, more willing, and just more playful. Not to mention that you don't have to pet them the right way because they'll scratch you.

I'm a cat person... always have.
Dogs smell.... and cats are just as loyal as dogs... and cats don't scratch nearly as often as people think. I'm not an animal person but I do like Cats so much better. Dogs are just messy, annoying, a bigger burden and loud and sometimes even stinky (especially since they're usually to dumb to keep themselves clean unlike cats).
EDIT: A few other reason why cats are better is because Dogs require constant attention, especially since you gotta let them outside to go to the bathroom. Cats get potty trained right away and they take care of their business themselves. Also cats you can actually cuddle with unlike most dogs. Also Dogs can get pretty annoying when their horny by humping legs and male dogs get pretty disgusting down there when they're horny. So yeah, Cats for me, especially when their kittens, there's nothing funner than a kitten.

i prefer cats cause they are independent, require little to no training, they give the perfect amount of affection, and in my experience have really long lifespans

David: All those things you said about Dogs can easily be ciscumvented by raising them well and training them.
Of course, it does require a lot more attention that a cat, but getting a dog potty-trained, disciplined and all that should never take more than 3 months. That's assuming you get it as a puppy and know what you're doing. And yes, I'm a dog person, nothing against cats though, except when they walk around outside, free. I f***ing hate cats that walk around on their own. Hate them with a passion.

Training dogs takes a lot longer than training cats. Cats take only a couple days to learn everything they need to know, while dogs take weeks or longer due to the need to learn various commands -------------------- |
